Cyrus ran his hands through his hair one last time, checking it in the mirror before he grabbed his wallet and phone and jogged downstairs, nearly tripping on the last few steps.

He found his mom and step-father in the kitchen, making cookies.

"Well don't you look handsome? TJ's a lucky guy," his mom said, glancing up from where she was measuring ingredients.

Cyrus nonchalantly stole a few chocolate chips from a measuring cup. "Uh, thanks?"

"Wait, step back and turn all the way around. I want to see what you're wearing," Todd chimed in, elicting a chuckle from Cyrus, who did as he was told.

He was wearing a dark red t-shirt with a white denim jacket and black jeans, all recently bought for the sole purpose of his third date with TJ.

"Very dapper, indeed," Todd nodded.

"Thanks, Todd. Now I have to go, and I'm expecting cookies when I get home," he pointed at his mom before turning to walk out the door.

"Have a good time!" his mom yelled.

"I was planning on it, but thanks for the reminder," Cyrus teased with a smile, stepping out of his house.

The bell above the door of The Spoon jingled lightly as Cyrus stepped inside. He glanced around for his boyfriend, before finding him in a booth.

"Hey, Underdog!" TJ greeted as Cyrus sat down across from him. "I hope you don't mind, I already ordered. Baby taters and chocolate milkshakes."

"Not at all! You're perfect. Er- uh, that's perfect, I mean. The baby taters and milkshakes are perfect," Cyrus stuttered. TJ smiled lovingly at his boyfriend.

"I know what you mean, Cy."

"Oh thank God. That was not my proudest moment."

"It's fine, Underdog. We got there in the end."

At that moment, Amber walked up holding a tray of baby taters and milkshakes.

"Thanks, Amber!" Cyrus smiled up at her, setting the milkshakes on the table.

"Yep! I mean, it's literally my job to give you food but you know," Cyrus chuckled, putting a baby tater in his mouth. "Alright, you two don't need your friend, Cyrus, and your twin sister, TJ, on your date with you. And I have a whole diner of people to serve. So I'll be going."

Amber walked away to take an order, and TJ turned back to Cyrus, taking a sip of his milkshake.

TJ walked Cyrus to his door, shaking his head at a pun Cyrus made.

"You're like a dad who accidentally ate anti-aging baby taters."

"Well that's quite the backstory. I'm pretty sure I just have a ridiculous sense of humor."

"Fair enough."

"Alrighty, I should probably get inside. Mom's going to want me to tell her everything that happened tonight, word for word. She does it every time we have a date."

"That's adorable," TJ smiled. Without thinking, he leaned in to kiss Cyrus goodnight. When they split apart, Cyrus was blushing madly. "Correction: you're adorable."

TJ kissed him one more time, bid him goodnight, and walked away. Cyrus laid two fingers on his lips, where he was sure he could still feel TJ kissing him.

"Mom is going to love this."
