My Life as a Mage in Another World

Chapter 1

Just like that, my boring everyday life ended. Kyousuke Nakamura, age eighteen, occupation: highschool student. It was a usual day I woke up, got dressed, and headed to school, but as I was passing a convenience store I heard something. The noises were loud not a squawking bird or a barking dog, they were human. Shouts, I turned my head to the store.

What the hell is going on in there? Did a crazy hobo wander in or is it an unhappy customer? Then I realized what was happening when I peeked through a window,I saw the back of a man holding a gun and pointing it right between the eyes of the cashier. The cashier was young girl with black hair with a terrified look on her face.

Holy shit! I gotta call the cops!

Swiftly, I pulled my phone out of my school bag and dialed nine one one. The call wasn't picked up immediately. The man I saw in the window burt out of the doors and turned his eyes to me. He was a grown adult with short brown hair and a mustache, he was wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and even black boots.

He eyes were filled with rage when he saw me holding up my phone to my ear, the call still hadn't picked up. For the first time ever I feared the loss of my life, the feeling of my incoming death. The man yelled "I can't have any witnesses!", he shot his gun, the bullet landing in my heart. My body hit the concrete, I was laying on my side, the blood pouring from my wound started to form a pool of my crimson blood.

"Hello"

An operator had finally answered my call, a turned my blurry vision back to the man he was running on the sidewalk. I would have responded to the operator on my bloody phone, but I no longer had any strength. The ever growing pain in my chest had really taken its toll on me. My vision began to fade, a darkness creeping in slowly overtook everything. My life had officially ended.

Instead of meeting a cruel god who had decided my time was up or the devil in the unforgiving flames of hell, a light became present it was overtaking the darkness. My eyes finally understood what I was looking at, a beautiful blue sky. Now I was flat on my back, I shot up in confusion .

"What the?!"

I turned turned to my left, someone was there, a beautiful girl with golden hair and sapphire eyes looking down at me our faces only a few inches apart. My cheeks turned a bright red and I crawled backwards fast. 'Okay, please tell me what's going on"!

"Please calm down, I will not harm you in any way," the girl said as she slowly approached me with her hands up, she was wearing a flashy set of polished armor.

"I saw you sleeping in this field, so I asked my carriage driver and was hoping you were alright".

I finally noticed that I was in a large field, then I looked past the girl and saw a carriage motionless on a path in the distance. I really didn't want to seem weird in front of this girl so I responded in a calm manner, "Yeah, I'm okay, who are you"? Pressing a hand to her breastplate and flashing a smile she stated her name "My name is Reina and I was on my way back to The Capital when I saw you".

Reina's voice was filled with compassion and honesty, I felt enthralled by her. I finally got my ass off the ground and stood to greet Reina. "My names Kyousuke Nakamura" I said as I held my hand out.

"You have quite an odd name, but anyways it's not good for you to stay out here so would you accompany me?'' Said Reina as she shook my hand.

I don't know how I didn't notice this before but this is just like those light novels. It's the perfect setup, my unfortunate death, then awakening and meeting a beautiful girl. Finally i'm in a world where i'm important! I had a big smile on my face now.
