The white haired demon ripped open Sophie's chest. The demon to my knowledge was named Inanis, she spoke to herself and said her name earlier and she was a shrew. Sophie's chest poured the dark red blood and I could see the innards of her body. She twitched and made sudden breaths as Inanis lifted from the ground with one hand.
"My! I didn't know humans had so much inside of them!" Inanis shrieked in her wicked voice.
Inanis threw Sophie to the side and met my gaze. The cornea of her eyes were a pure white color and her eyes sent a sharp cold gaze. I had tripped over a tree root while trying to attack Inanis. Inanis was gifted with the ability to manipulate blood, she could even make the blood travel at high speeds. With the wave of her hand she could slash someones throat without any retaliation.
"Tell me, how long are you just going to sit by and watch?" Inanis said let out a high pitched evil laugh.
My fear had a tight grip around my heart, so I could not say any words. Instead, I only glanced around trying to find any means of escape. It was nighttime and we were at the foot of the mountain said to have The Prophet's sword. A thick forest surrounded the foot of the mountain it would be a good source of cover for my escape.
Wait . . .
How did I get here? Why am I here? I had lost my purpose and it took me a moment to remember. Finally, Fleyla was ready to pursue Maven Hollowblood and they had assembled a force of over three hundred. Fleyla had recently publicly announced the return of Maven Hollowblood. Technically speaking anyone could join the expedition, however less than one hundred Fleyla citizens had joined in. The rest were sent my allies from foreign countries such as Dravenwood. I was one of the fools in Fleyla who had willingly joined the journey.
"Looking for means of escape? Are you really that low human?" Inanis said.
Despite our obvious differences I could understand the meaning behind Inanis's words. Instead of dying as one of the victims who fought to the end I tried to save my life becaue of my selfishness. The other corpses laid around me, they had gone cold and their eyes were hollow. My squad had been wiped out in mere minutes. Asides from myself the only other member of my squad was Reiki, the leader. I didn't know where Reiki was, nor did I know why he wasn't with us. I failed my squad. Most of all I failed myself.
"Just why do you have that look on your face? Be happy your soul will reunite with Ignis soon," Inanis said "unless you're a heretic perhaps?"
I opened my mouth, but only whimpers came out. After a few moments sounds that resembled words began to form.
"I-I d-don--" I kept trying to speak.
"HUH?! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! SPEAK UP!" Inanis roared over my soft cries with harsh cruel shouts.
She laughed I kept softly speaking. She struck the back of my head with her boot keeping it to the ground. Dirt got in my left eye and Inanis kept pushing my head down further and further into the ground, the heal of her long boots felt like it was going to crush my head into a gory mess.
"P-please let me g-go!" I cried.
Inanis lifted her boot and grabbed me by my hair. She looked at me as if I was something less than dirt. I hated being looked at in that way. It angered me to be looked at as anything less than a human being.
"Just why do you keep begging like a dog?" Inanis asked.
She kept giving me that look. A mix of anger and sorrow fell upon me as I met the cold gaze of Inanis. I could no longer handle her intense gaze, so I drated my eyes around looking around fro any means of escape or at least something to improve my situation.
