Dangerous Secrets

Chapter 1

It was 5:45am in the morning andthe Tracys hated being woken up early. Especially after a bigbirthday celebration the night before. But the alarm had beensounded on the western perimeter of Tracy Island and Kayo Kyrano haddecided to go check it out. She went alone, but had told everyoneelse to be ready in case she needed back up.

It was also a freezing morning as it was the middle ofwinter and even though Kayo was dressed for it, she still felt thecold bite of the wind as it blew around the island. She pulled herjacket closer to her body and swept the beam from the light of herhelmet around. The alarm had been triggered on the beach, so that'swhere she was headed.

"How's everything, Kayo?" John Tracy askedover the comms on Kayo's suit. John was the space monitor up inThunderbird 5.

"Everythingseems okay,John. I haven't arrived at the western perimeter yet," Kayoreplied. She had a secret crush on the space man. But, somethinghad setoff the alarm. And whenever something set off the alarm on TracyIsland, it was always something bad. Itcan't be the Hood. Or the Mechanic,Kayo thought. They'veboth been arrested. She had brought her gun along just in case and pulled it out now asshe neared the area. Kayo turned off the safety catch just in case.

Arriving at the western part of the beach, the Africannineteen-year-old swept the area with the life scanner. It showedtwo persons lying on the sand half a mile ahead. She shone the lightaround the beach. Did not see anything.

She walked on cautiously. Why were the two peoplelying down? Were they injured? Dead? Dying?  Kayo shone the headtorch around the beach after she reached the spot. But she did notsee anything. Where are they? she thought. Then, she turnedtowards the shore line and found them. Two people were halfsubmerged in the water, lying in the sand. She turned her comms onagain. "Scott?"

"Yes, Kayo?"

"I've found something. Two people lying halfsubmerged in water," Kayo reported, her eyes on the two pronefigures. I wonder how they got here? Kayo wondered.

"How do they look?" Jeff's calm voice cameover the comms in her helmet. They had found him eight months agoand she was still becoming used to seeing him around the place. Butit was good. She had her 'father' back.

Kayo replied that she was going in for a closer look. "Be careful, sis." This time it was Gordon, the squid, whospoke.

"Always," she assured them and proceededforward. She knelt down beside the nearest person. The person wasfemale, looked about twelve or thirteen, had blonde hair that wassoaking wet, and was dressed in a light blue, button-up top and khakitrousers. Kayo placed two of her fingers on the girl's neck. Therewas a pulse, but very faint. And in this cold, she was not going tosurvive much longer. The girl also had several scratch's and bruiseson her face. Kayo pulled her out of the water and further up thebeach until the female was under the canopy of one of the palm trees.

She went back to the other body. This one had shortauburn hair and was lying on the person's stomach. Kayo flipped thisbody with her boot. Also female, with a pilot's uniform on. Herface looked really blue. Kayo felt for a pulse. There was none. She pulled the body out of the water and searched for any sign ofidentification.

She found a wallet, pilot's licence and a USB device. Kayo called into Jeff and informed him of what she had discovered. She noted that near to where she found the two females, was a pieceof wreckage from what she assumed was a plane crash. She thenpocketed the wallet, licence and the USB, picked up the girl andheaded back to the house.
