We were on our way home, with mum driving, dad in the passenger seat, Nick, Katie and I in the middle. The small talk with Harry wouldn't leave my mind. "Hey dad?"
"Yes Bon-Bon?"
"Do you know anyone by the name of Harry Haddock?" He was silent for a few minutes. "Why do you ask?" He sounded quite angry. Then again, he's usually angry whenever we talk to strangers. He's a cool guy and all, but...sometimes he gets a little over-protective...a little too over-protective. "Bonnie, why is this a concern of yours?" I hadn't realized I'd been silent. "Um...well..." I looked over at Nick. He gave me his 'Don't you dare tell him' face. "Um...I uh...asked him for a part-time job and uh... he's the boss of Freddy's...and...he told me he was a good friend of his...and I just wanted to make sure that you were..." Man, I'm bad at this. I heard my dad sigh from the front seat. "Yeah, he's a friend. Glad you're starting to think about your future Bon-bon" He sounded much calmer now. But now I felt bad. I never like thinking about my future, and having these conversations make me uncomfortable. The rest of the car trip was quiet, other than Katie opening her present's cause she couldn't wait until we got home. I need to talk to Mr Haddock before dad did.Too late. Dad already called him. As I sat in my room, I could hear him talking to Harry, but I couldn't make out any of the words. There was one thing I had heard, but I don't know if I had heard correctly. Just before dad hung up, he said something along the lines of, "Thanks Hiccup". It sounded something like that, but that couldn't be right, right? I don't know. I heard dad coming up the steps. I quickly but quietly went over to my desk, pretending to do homework. Dad opened the door. "Hey dad, what did he say?" Dad seemed pretty tired. "You got the job."
"What?"
"I said you got the job! Congratulations!" I was shocked. He...didn't tell him? He actually went along with it? Dad saw my shocked expression. "What's wrong? Didn't you want it?" I put on a fake smile. "Of course I did! It's just...I didn't think I was gonna get the job. What am I doing?" Please don't be cleaning, please don't be cleaning...
"You get two jobs, night guard once a week, and waitress after school." Night guard? I have to work with Mike? Welp, at least I didn't get cleaning. "But you have to work with someone during the night. If anything goes wrong, you just call me, ok?" Dangit. I DO have to work with Mike. Wait a second... "Do I have to work with someone who's experienced? Or can I work with another rookie?" Dad frowned. Uh oh, he doesn't know, does he? "You're going to have to ask Hic- I mean Harry that." What was he gonna say? Oh well, I might be able to drag Charlie into this..."AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! REALLY? YOU'D INVITE ME?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" I held the phone away from my ear as Charlie fangirled into the other end. I swear, she's gonna die from sheer excitement. "Charlie, calm down. You still have to ask your parents and Mr Haddock." I inwardly sighed as she calmed down. No more screaming (sorry "Charlie" had to). "Of course, right. Just thank you so much Bon-bon! Bye!"
I instantly started singing, "What can I say except, your welcome! Ba-bye!" (Don't care it wasn't made then). Later on I'd find out that that line would be used in a movie. But that would be many years after.... Well, I'll tell you later. Now, where were we?
(Time skip)
"Welp. This is it. Our first night!" Charlie and I were standing in front of the big glass doors that led into Freddy's. Charlie wasn't jumping up and down in excitement. Instead, she had a serious look I'd never seen on her face. "Let's go." Even her voice wasn't fun filled. It seemed like... that was a cover up of what was actually going on... what happened?
We entered inside. It was really creepy without the little kids here. Harry said that this person named 'Frank Ingerman' was gonna leave a message on a phone for us. He said he was a former security guard. I looked around as we walked towards the office. Everything was half cleaned. They must clean the rest in the morning. I looked up to the stage to look at the animatronics. I nearly tripped over. What...why are they staring over here? Their stare wasn't too friendly either... I looked over to Pirate Cove. Was it just me, or did the curtain move slightly? We soon made it to the office.
