Chapter 8

It's been a week since I've learnt about the Dragon Spirits. And my energy level was draining, as if something were consuming it. But then again, something was. Dad said that was normal, something about her just about ready to show herself. He suggested I stay home until I 'get better'. Nick was pretty pissed he couldn't stay home. Dad assured mum that he'd look after me while she was working. He later told me it was better off that way. I slept a lot. Dad said it was a good sign. Everything was going fine, until the day my dragon decided to show herself....
that day, Charlie was there.

Charlie and I were sitting on the couch in the lounge room, watching TV and eating popcorn. I was still in my yellow PJ's, while Charlie was wearing blue jeans and a blue t-shirt. "What have you been doing recently?" I asked. "Meh, not much. Just boring school work. And I've been working at Freddy's twice a week."
"Sorry I couldn't be there to help you."
"It's ok."
Everything was quiet as we continued to watch the movie. A sudden burn in my arm made me yelp. I looked down. Wait....that wasn't there this morning....oh no. On my arm had a symbol, very similar to Hiccup's, but purple. Charlie turned to me, concern written on her face. "Are you-"
"Yeah I'm fine! Just scratched myself too hard." I lied. She can't find out. For once, dad wasn't here. But he told me the symptoms, so I would know what would happen. I had to do something. I over-exaggerated a yawn. "Well I'm getting very tired, so I think I'll go to bed-goodnight!" I quickly rushed off to my room. I'm terrible at lying. I slammed the door shut. My energy completely drained then. I collapsed onto the floor. Everything was blurry. I do remember a bright light, then nothing. I blacked out for what seemed like hours. But I later learned it was only a minute. I opened my eyes to see....nothing? I moved my head. Oh, someone had put my face into my pillow while laying me on my bed. Wait...who? I quickly sat up. Bad choice. My head hurt from a splitting headache. I looked around, slowly this time. My room was trashed. Books were all over the floor, clothes over everything, and my cupboard was wide open. I noise was coming from there. I quietly got up from my bed and tip-toed over. I peeked inside, and saw the cutest thing. Ever. There was a large pile of clothes on the bottom of my cupboard, and on top of the pile was a large, purple, scaly dragon. It looked very much like Toothless. Its back was facing me, and the noise I heard was....purring? It sounded like it was asleep. I slowly put my hand out to pat it. But my hand only got a centimetre away from it, when it suddenly whipped its head around to stare at me. I yelped in surprise. Its emerald green eyes were locked on mine. That's when I noticed it. A pure white dot on its head. Hiccup was right in his assumption. This was Luna. She got up and started to walk slowly towards me. I backed up a bit to let her out of the cupboard. After she came out, she sniffed around for a bit. She looked over to me. By now, I was sitting on my bed. She came over and started to sniff me. Her tail started to move from side to side. Wait.... Was she wagging her tail in happiness? I laughed at my theory. Luna stuck her tongue out, much like a dog. I laughed even harder. She was just like a cat and a dog packaged into one. I soon stopped as I heard someone coming up the stairs. That's when I remembered: Charlie was still here. Crap! She can't see Luna! I rushed over to the door. "Bon-bon? Are you ok in there? I heard you yell."
"Y-yeah! I'm ok! I just....um....nearly tripped?"
"Lier." She started to open the door. I tried to keep it shut, but Charlie was a year older than me, and was much stronger, especially with me in this state. What was the dragon doing? Absolutely nothing. She sat on my bed, ears perked, curiously looking at me and the door. Charlie eventually opened the door wide enough to see Luna. And for Luna to see Charlie. Boy, their reactions were priceless. Charlie screamed when she saw Luna, and if dragons screamed, Luna sure was doing it now. Her pupils were thinned, much different than the curious eyes before, and her mouth hung wide open. I covered Charlie's mouth, cutting off her screaming. Luna, on the other hand, couldn't be helped. I would've taken a picture or a video if I didn't have to keep her a secret. I ended up on the floor, laughing my head off, leaving Charlie wondering what was going on. Luna eventually stopped 'screaming' and started growling. She slowly advanced towards Charlie. I quickly got up and held out my hands. "Woah! Hey! Don't hurt her! She's a friend!" I then walked over to Charlie and pat the top of her head. Luna stopped growling, seeing what I was doing. She purred, before lifting her paw to pat Charlie where I petted her. Charlie was speechless, her eyes locked on Luna. "Hey, are you ok?" I asked, leaning out in front of her, my hands behind my back. She snapped back to reality. "W-what is th-that?" She was trembling. I couldn't blame her. "She's a dragon." I answered as simply as I could. "What is it doing here?"
"She's....here because of me." Charlie turned towards me. I could see the question in her eyes. I sighed. No going back now. "Charlie, you can't tell anyone what I'm about to tell you. You have to promise this, or a lot of lives will be in danger. Do you promise?" She nodded her head in understanding. "Now, I only know the basic facts. There are others who know all the facts, but I can't take you to them. And I only just learnt this a few days ago. So don't get mad." She nodded again. We sat on my bed, Luna now next to us.

(Time skip after telling the story (too lazy))

Charlie put her hands over her nose and took a deep breath. "So your telling me....that an immortal demon guy from the Viking era is trying to get rid of these demigods so he can get rid of their dragons, am I correct?"
"Correct."
"And once he gets rid of them, what happens?" I frowned. I never thought of that. "I...honestly don't know. All I know is that he wants to get rid of all dragons. Probably including their descendants." Charlie, Luna and I sat in silence for a while longer. "Let's just forget about this for now. C'mon, we'll go watch some TV." I suggested. I got up and headed out my door. Charlie and Luna following close behind. We sat on the couch peacefully for a while, until my eye lids started to get heavy. Soon I was fast asleep.

(Another time skip)

I felt someone shaking my shoulder. I looked up, and saw dad, with an angry look on his face. "Would you mind explaining what's going on here?" He whispered. I was confused, then I remembered. Charlie knew about Luna. I quickly sat up and looked around. Luna was on the other side of the couch, with Charlie in her arms. Crap. I looked up guiltily at dad. "Woops...." Dad pinched the bridge of his nose. "Explain to me what happened. Include every little piece of detail you can.
I explained to dad what happened. Including our conversation. He was not happy when he heard I'd told her everything I knew. "Bon-bon, do you know why I didn't tell the entire family?"
"Um...cause they would've freaked out?"
"Well, that, but also because I would've put everyone in danger. That's why I didn't tell you till now." That was true. I had put Charlie in danger. "But she won't tell anyone! She's good with secret." Dad sighed. "That's not just the point Bon-bon. Grimmel would torture them for information." I never thought of that before. What have I done?
