It was getting colder as the evening approached. The breeze coiled along the empty school courtyard. Bathed in the shadows of the last beams of sunlight, stretching towards a pair of boys. Awkwardly shifting between each other.

It had not been the same since the Sludge Incident. That had been a week ago. One with freckles lightly dusting his cheeks peered up at the shifty red eyes. The boy with the red eyes clicked his tongue.

"Ka-cchan...let's just break up. This won't work anymore." The freckled boy muttered. As his fingers played with the hem of his gakuran.

"Wha-!? The fuck is wrong with you Deku, there's no need for this to end!" Katsuki yelled. His fists clenched and the faint crackle of his quirk. Came to life beneath his fingertips.

The sound echoed against Deku's ears. Of course, Kacchan wouldn't want it to stop. Honestly, there was nothing wrong with how things were now.

But just last week. Izuku he'd been able to save his only Kacchan. He'd been scolded by the ambulance personnel. Izuku had never gotten a quirk, he was only a nuisance.

Even though he had saved Kacchan. When no one else had the courage. He still got scolded. The world was not fair, Izuku knew that and yet. His hero All Might, had told him.

That he, Midoriya Izuku would be a worthy successor? A chance to become a hero alongside Kacchan. Just like they had dreamt of since they were in kindergarten. It made Izuku happy, really happy.

But then the warning from All Might, he needed to keep it a secret. Had to pass it off as being a *late-bloomer?* His heartstrings ached, throbbed with regret. Izuku couldn't let Kacchan learn about this. It was too dangerous, something like relationships or even love.

Izuku had realised in the past week since All Might had given him a training menu. And the late evenings where he would cry himself to sleep. He had to end it...it would be for the best right. So why couldn't Kacchan understand that?

They'd been boyfriends for so long, even if it was in secret. Ever since their last year of elementary school. It had been during the summer festival when they were twelve-years-old. And now they were fourteen.

They knew each other so well. Reading each other's body language like a well-read chapter of a novel.

The rise of the blond brows, the small tilt of Kacchan's occasional smiles. Kacchan chasing off the few that still had the nerve to bully Izuku. Even if their interactions in school were convincing.

It simply wouldn't be enough, if they stayed together like this. Would not be long before Izuku was ready to tell him everything.

Izuku did not want Katsuki to get into any more danger than necessary.

Thick tears gathered underneath his eyelids threatening to spill. The grip around the sleeves of his uniform wrinkled. Shoulders hunched and head focused on the ground below.

A trace of his stubbornness was present as the words filtered through nervous lips.

"You heard me Kacchan. Let's end this, we're not twelve-year-olds anymore. Next year we're going to be in high school. And I'll only hold you back, Kacchan you're going to Yuuei. I know you'll be the best student there. And I...well I have to figure out where to apply. I'm just going to be a distraction and hold you back-" But before Izuku could finish his speech.

A pair of familiar lips drew him in like a moth to a dancing flame. Their heated breaths danced together as tongues circled each other, like animals with the instinct to chase, to hunt. He couldn't possibly end it with Deku. No Deku was his, no one else could have him.
