The door creeped open, regret flooded Tom as he met chris' eyes. The aussie put his hands up in defence, as if trying to calm the other. "I'm sorry..." he whispered. Tom sighed, looking down "it's fine, I overreacted." Chris nudged the door open more, moving himself inside the small room and closing the door behind him, he embraced the brunette. "No you didn't, I shouldn't have crossed the line." It didn't take Tom long to give in, he clutched onto the fabric of Chris' shirt, burying his face into the soft clothing. Chris giggled, forgetting how much Tom loved his hugs.
"You forgive me?" Chris muttered. Tom sheepishly nodded. Chris stroked the back of Tom hair, he couldn't help but admire the wavey; gingery fountain that suited him so well. Tom cursed on how Chris knew all the ways in which to calm him down, for some reason he hated being predictable. He thought about pulling away, knowing he'd probably fall asleep in his arms, but he loved his touch too much, it was warm, calm and it tingled slightly, he loved the way Chris held him as if he was fading away. The other didn't mind on the length of the hug, he loved it as much as Tom did.
Tom slowly pulled away, checking the time on his phone, turning back to Chris "we have to go." He said with a sad smile. Chris nodded "wanna go out for coffee?" He asked. Tom laughed, not even thinking over the decision. "Sure." He replied. Chris took his hand and pulled him through the building, ovoiding the large groups of fans. Tom giggled happily, while Chris grinned at him. Once they made it out they both stopped to laugh at each other before taking off again, still giggling half way down the street.
Once they made it to the coffee shop, Chris guided Tom by his waist to a small table by the window, showing a view of the blue sky, misted by a few random fluffy clouds. He told him to sit, and that he'd be right back. o
Once Chris left, Tom pulled out his phone: 2 missed calls and 14 missed messages. He didn't have to open them to know who they were from. Him and his ex girlfriend had broken up a few weeks ago but she was still at his throat, blaming him completely and arguing about not leaving her alone. Tom hated it, her words were like poisonous knives that hit him perfectly every time. but he didn't have to heart to block her from his life, so he put up with it.His heart ached. It stung, in fact. She called again but he instinctively ignored it. He looked out the window, pretending that she didn't hurt him. Chris snapped him back to reality. "Hey, you okay?" He asked, sitting across from him. Tom felt incredibly unstable and couldn't risk talking so he nodded, biting his lip in nervousness. Chris raised an eyebrow. "So what's actually wrong?" After a moment of hesitation, Tom handed him his phone. Confused, Chris opened it, knowing his password off-by-heart, he read some recent texts from a number just named as 'ex'. He was stunned by the kind of stuff she would say to him. He switched the phone off, putting it beside him, "why don't you block her?" Tom shrugged and half-smiled, not meeting his eyes. "I have to know what she's saying." Chris gave him a concerned look. He lifted a hand to stroke his cheek "want me to kill her?" Tom laughed, placing his hand on Chris'. "I'm not kidding, you can help hide the body." He said, smiling. Tom laughed harder, shaking his head.
A waiter walked over, placing two cups of coffee in front of the two. Chris thanked her as she walked away. As they drank, Chris would make stupid jokes to make Tom feel better, and it worked. For a brief hour and a half, Tom was completely distracted from the world, all he knew was Chris. His thoughts were blanked by his humor. He never wanted the moment to end.
Sadly enough, it did. The two left the cafè, unwilling to give up their time together. Tom turned off his phone and looked back to Chris who was yawning "mate it's like 7 o'clock." He said, looking at his own phone. "Damn." Was all Tom could muster, his voice shaken with slight sadness and surprise. "My place is across the street? Wanna watch a movie, tea, sleep or something?" Chris suggested, almost scared to be turned down. Tom just smiled. "Tea sounds amazing." He said. Chris returned his smile, taking his hand and leading him down the street while just talking about how fun living in new York was, he loved it when his friend just walked with him and listened, once in a while swinging their interlocked fingers or giggling or closely watching as his breath turned to mist in the cold.
They got to the house, it was small but cosy and welcoming. The white paint almost looked tinted as the sun set into a orangy, pinky ombre. Tom stepped into the warmth, it wasn't like this was the first time being in Chris home, but every time he walked in it was like it was all new. He hung his jacket up to the left of the front door, in a small entryway leading to the stairs. He then followed Chris through a glass door on the the right and then into a cute living room with a TV, two couches, a coffee table and a piano. He loved how the living room connected openly to the kitchen, where Chris stood, switching a tab in front of a noisy kettle.
He slipped his shoes off and half-skidded across the wooden floors into the kitchen. He lent his chin on Chris' shoulder and hugged his waist from behind. Chris turned his head round briefly to kiss his partner on the forehead sweetly in return. Tom gigged in response but let go in fear of being in the way. Chris poured two cups of tea and carried them into the living room, putting then down on the coffee table and moving to the farthest couch, it's side practically against the TV with a small gap that was filled with DVDS, mostly animes and cartoons.
Chris clapped his hands, opening his arms which Tom then fell into, Chris laid back on the arm of the couch, facing the tv, Tom lying on his chest in between his legs. Chris wrapped a strong arm around him and grabbed a remote control with the other, he switched the tv on, it immediately starting playing 'paw patrol' the English children's cartoon. Tom giggled, and started to sing along to the theme tune. Chris tapped his foot in rthym, grinning like a puppy.
When the theme song ended Chris switched the channel to the movie section, whispering under his breath "you sing like an angel." Tom heard and rested his hand on Chris'. "What movie do you wanna watch?" Chris said, a little louder. "I don't mind." Tom replied, his voice sounded quiet and tired. Like he was struggling with the energy to speak. Chris reached over to the coffee table, pulling it closer to the couch they were on. He passed a mug to Tom who gladly took it. After, he brought his hand back to the others hair and knitted his fingers through it. His heart fluttered to the point where it was unbearable.
Chris clicked on a movie called "the butterfly effect" as he knew that Tom loved weird phenomenons. He also knew that the man wouldn't survive the movie without falling asleep. But Chris didn't mind. He could make an amazing pillow! He smiled to himself. Tom chugged the rest of his tea and placed it back on the table, snuggling back into Chris' chest. Chris held him tightly as the movie intro played. Chris leant on the top of Tom's head, his hair is so soft!
The movie had been on for about half an hour. Both mugs lay empty and Chris was still wide awake. He leant down to check on Tom. His features were completely relaxed, his breathing was slow and calming and his hands felt oddly softer on Chris'. Chris smiled, kissing him on top of his head. "Goodnight tom." He whispered.
(Lil' short I know but oh well, goodnight xx)
