The Denali clan arrived in the UK just a few hours later, and the moment I laid eyes on Tanya, I knew I was in for a tough few weeks. She was sneering towards me, sickly sweet towards everyone else, and the only people in the household who seemed to recognise her for what she was were myself, Rosalie, and Edward. Even Alice, who certainly didn't get on well with Tanya, seemed to be giving her the benefit of the doubt.

Edward clenched his jaw, presumably at some of the thoughts running through Tanya's head, and wrapped an arm almost possessively around my waist. I moved closer to him as myself, Edward, Rosalie, Tanya and Irina stood around in the living room awkwardly, and shot Tanya a smug look. This man was off-limits. He was spoken for, and nothing she did was going to change that.

"How sweet," Tanya said, smiling at Edward and myself. "I'm sure I guessed that the two of you were mated."

"We are," Edward snarled.

"And yet, you were human, and Bella still attempted to pursue a relationship." Tanya sighed, rapping her long, ruby nails against the countertop. "Most dangerous."

"I agree," Irina said silkily.

"Nothing happened, Tanya," Rosalie snapped.

"Nothing?" Tanya laughed. "Forgive me, but this whole situation is because of them, is it not? Edward was attacked because of his ties to your family. And now the shape-shifters are attacking you because Bella changed a human into a vampire. And due to the ties between our families, we must assist you."

"Don't even start, Tanya Denali," Rosalie said venomously. "Get over yourself. The wolves had it out for us well before Edward came along. Sam's death set them loose. If you don't want to fight this battle, then get your fucking skanky arse out of here."

"Rosalie!" Esme gasped. I turned, not having noticed her walk in.

"Oh, for God's sake." Rosalie folded her arms. "Were you listening to watch she just said?"

"Regardless of whatever Tanya said, that does not give you just cause to use such foul language."

"I apologise, Rosalie," Tanya said, her voice sincere despite how obvious it was that she was lying through her teeth. "I did not intend to insult you."

Rosalie snorted. "Like hell you didn't. That was exactly what you were trying to do. Apology not accepted."

"Behave!" Esme said, aghast. "Honestly. Perhaps you should take a leaf from Tanya's book and apologise to her."

I choked. "Esme, have you forgotten how she treated us when we were in Alaska and in Washington? What she said to me, to Edward, about us? Did she ever apologise then?"

Esme sighed, and help up her hands. "Fine. Have your own arguments." And she turned on her heel and left the room. I frowned after her, wondering what the hell was going on at the moment.

"I'm warning you," Rosalie said quietly to Tanya and Irina. "If you try any shit at all, I will not hesitate to feed you to the wolves. Even better, I'll torch you. Got that?"
