Breathe and Live

Your well deserved 1 week vacation was over and it was back to working. You weren't really excited, but at the same time you were. Like working is okay when you meet people (or dogs) that you really enjoy being around, but being at home and doing nothing is definitely one of the more fun things still.

When you walked in through the doors of the shelter though, staying at home seemed to be one of the worse things ever. 

Namjoon had dragged you into his office and explained that while you were away on vacation, he was taking care of Killer. But he was so busy yesterday that he handed over the task to someone else who apparently got on Killer's bad side. 

Now hope had started to fade away for the German Shepherd to ever get adopted after he seemed to get aggressive around certain people. You couldn't just make an adoption profile for the dogs, the dogs had to be ready for it, meaning that if a dog was aggressive and didn't improve, they would be put to sleep. 

 Even though Killer had improved, he showed that he was still very aggressive in certain situations, and the problem was that the cages in the shelter were full, so no matter how much you don't want to put a dog to sleep, you sometimes had to do so; in order to give new dogs a chance to come in and get adopted.

As Namjoon explained everything to you it felt like your heart was breaking. You had thought everything was fine, you thought that the first thing you were going to do when you got back was to write Killer- no, Pluto, an adoption profile. And here you were, being told that he had to be put to sleep.

You had dealt with it before; putting the dogs at the shelter to sleep, but you couldn't do it this time...

"So we need space and Killer has been here so long now, he was improving, but seeing him attack the employee doesn't leave me with much choice."

"I'll take him."

Namjoon's head snapped up in your direction and he looked at you baffled.

"Y/N-" he sighs out,

"I know that your sad but this isn't working. He can't stay here."

"I know, that's why I'll adopt him."

"Y/N, this is serious. Killer is aggressive and you have another dog, it's not a good idea."

"Pluto is an amazing dog who deserves to live, please Namjoon, at least let Itachi and Pluto met each other and then maybe let me adopt him. Pluto might end up being Itachi's best friend, and you can't just kill Itachi's best friend!" your eyes were glossy with tears threatening to spill. 

You had no idea why you were getting so worked up over this but maybe it was that you had formed a bond with Pluto and you just couldn't bear to lose him. 

"Pluto?" Namjoon said with a surprised voice.

"yeah... I thought he would be ready to get adopted when I came back and I realized that I couldn't let him have a name like Killer then."

Your voice was small and sad as you spoke and a few tears had escaped from your eyes as you looked down; not wanting to meet Namjoon's eyes with your own.

"I'll let Itachi meet Pluto."

You looked up and saw a dimple smile looking back at you. Your boss was the best boss ever you thought.

Long story short, Pluto is a part of your family, and although there was a few bumps on the way, Pluto not only got to breathe, but also live.
