"Good Morning, Mr. Ainsworth!" I chirped walking into his office.

"Morning." He nodded. "You keeping well?" He asked with a worried expression.

"I'm trying." I shrugged.

"Talked to her?"

"Yep. She called in the morning. She's staying at her parents' right now. She'll shift to her own apartment tomorrow. I can't just believe all this....it happened so quickly."

"You need any help, you can always come to me."

"Help, yes! Can I please leave a bit earlier today? Actually I have to look for a new apartment."

"Why?"

"I can't afford it all by myself. So, I'll just find myself a smaller or cheaper one."

"I could pay you more." He suggested.

"Oh please no. That's not required." I showed him a palm.

"Okay then." He shrugged his broad shoulders. "Just let me know when you want to leave."

"So what do you want me to do now?" I rubbed my palms together.

"Coffee. Make me some coffee."

Please?

"Alright." I mumbled and made my way to the pantry.

I made some coffee for him whilst humming a song absentmindedly when I heard a knock at the door.

"May I come in?" He asked.

"It's your place. What's the need to ask?" I smiled and handed him the mug.

"I need to talk to you."

"Okay?"

"Well... we have a meeting today."

"I know. Mr. Broadway at two."

"That's not the problem. Alex...he'll be a part of the meeting. His father is an investor."

"Oh..."

"How will we..." He trailed off.

"We'll try our best. I promised to her today, whatever happens we won't speak up."

"What kind of mess is this?" He ran a hand through his hair.

"Just be confident with your answers. Don't throw shade."

"Are you sure we will-"

"We will be able to do it."

I smiled and nodded at him, turning around to leave the pantry. Before I could leave, he stopped me by holding my elbow. I turned around to find him looking at me with a pleading expression.

"If I fumble with my words cover up for me."

"Okay." I whispered and he left my elbow, making it cold again and I left not wanting any more contact.

"Hey Alex!" I tried acting really happy on seeing him enter Mr. Ainsworth's office.

"Hey there." He mumbled and sat on a chair. I grabbed the file that I ahd come to take and escaped out of the office while they discussed regarding the project.

I heaved a sigh as I arranged the field in front of the respective chairs. Placing my notepad next to Mr. Ainsworth's I straightened up and waited for them to arrive.
I heards the sound of talking and footsteps so I quickly plastered a smile on my face.

"So I think you agree to th terms and conditions?" Mr. Ainsworth asked the man next to him who was probably in his fifties.

"Yes, indeed. Just give us the papers young man." He patted Mr. Ainsworth's back.
