Chapter 5

"Being Frida Kahlo"

11th grade you become knowledgeable on women empowerment. Mostly on Mexican women empowerment.

Connecting with ur roots, is what you said. I ask what do u mean, you said I wouldn't understand.

I was angered about this, and out of lack of understanding, I started a verbal fight with you. You didn't talk to me for weeks. It ate me up.

I apologized by quoting, Frida Kahlo, your hero.

"You deserve the best, the very best, because you are one of the few people in this lousy world who are honest with themselves"
- Frida Kahlo

Your lips connected with mine, just told me you forgave me. Our first fight and the first time I fully accepted and appreciated the women you were.

I was Diego Rivera and you were my Frida Kahlo.

-Andrew
