Amelia POV
Panic.
I'm in a park alone, where is everyone? Wasn't I just at that party? I am sitting on a swing. All of this feels so familiar... I breathe in the air around me and my body goes numb. Cigarettes.
I know exactly where I am. This was a park my mom and Reggie would bring me and leave me at. I gotta get the hell out of here.
As I stand up to run to the street I hear a sickening voice boom behind me.
"There you are, baby girl."
Knots the size of softballs turned in my stomach. I'm running, but I'm not moving?
"Help!!! Anyone, please help!" I can feel the hot tears. And his arms wrap around my waist from behind.
I jolt awake and jump out of bed, hitting the floor. I pull my knees to my chest put my head down, sobbing. Again? I should probably talk to someone about these damn dreams.
"Fuck, Amelia. You good? What's wrong?" I freeze. Wait, where am I? I look up and see him hovering over me, his hand slides down my back and I jump.
Jax. Relief floods over me.
"Yes, I'm fine. Nothing to worry about." Trying to even my voice.
"Well you don't sound fine. And not to mention you were like attacking me in your sleep. Did you have a nightmare?" His eyes were soft, was he always this way?
"I'm fine, Jax. I just get these dreams sometimes." I'm not about to tell Jax my one secret that I swore would never leave my lips. That secret goes to my grave.
He pulls me up to my feet and wraps his arms around my waist into the biggest hug I've ever received. Ever. I stiffen for a minute unsure of were to put my hands. He takes them and puts them around his waist and holds me closer. Oh what the hell. I lean into it. I let out the most embarrassing sob.
Jax runs his hand down my tangled hair, "There you go, Princess. It's ok, just a dream."
What the fuck is happening. Jax isn't a good guy. This was their game that I was going to control and here we are. Out of a scene from a clique love movie.
What the actual fuck.
"Do you have- do you- a bathroom?" I choke through snot and tears.
"Come on, ill take you." He take my hand and goes through the hallway. Opens the first door on the left.
I look in the mirror as he just stands there, "Thanks—uh—are you gonna close the door? I think I just need a minute to wash me face."
"Nope. I'm not leaving you anywhere alone right now." He gives me that stupid, beautiful smile.
Uhhh.
"Well then, could you get me a wash cloth?" Hoping it will get him out of the bathroom so I can just breath.
"Sure thing." He reaches under the sink and pulls out a pure white wash cloth. He puts it in my hands and turns the sink water, he starts turning both knobs what looks like adjusting the temperature.
Welp. So much for peace. But that was fucking sweet as hell. "Thanks." Giving him a half smile.
"Wash that shit off your face it looks—"
"There's the asshat." Cutting him off.
"—-I was gonna say, you look way more beautiful without all of that on." His face swam with a smirk.
"Oh your good."
"I got game, Millie. It took years of practice" He laughs. What a beautiful sound.
I dip down in the sink trying to compose myself. I've had dreams before, never feeling Reggie actually touching me. What was different about this one? I can feel Jax's eyes burning a hole in my face. "Stop starring, it's rude."
"I'm just fascinated at how you wash your face."
I turn off the water that felt like it came from a fucking spring and wipe my face dry. Realization hits. Arms, arms, arms. They were around my waist. "Wait, were you spooning me?!" I whisper scream.
"What the hell— why are you so loud?" He whisper screams back.
"You didn't answer me." Twisting the wash cloth around in the air. "Ohhhh and you said you were going to take me!" I start to giggle. What the hell was that?
"Shut up. Let's go, we are gonna wake everyone up." Jax grabs my hand dragging me back to the room.
"I—Jax, I'm not gonna be able to sleep the rest of the night." I look down at his floor when we get back in the room.
"That's fine, it's 4 am anyways. We can play a game. 20 questions? I've been at the same school with you for like 8 years and don't know anything about you except you are a foster kid."
"Uh, I'm not sure." Still looking at the floor.
" Yeah, you're right. Let's just sit and stare at the floor for the next 5 hours until they all wake up." Jax lays on his bed. His tone was sarcastic and so damn funny.
"Ok. But I can skip questions."
"Every time you skip a question you have to kiss me. On. The. Lips." He presses his lips together and taps them with his index finger.
"Oh you wish, Hendrix." Heat rises up my neck and spills into my cheeks.
"Fine. I'll just go to sleep and leave you all—"
"OK. FINE! Just don't leave me alone. Not right now."
Jax Hendrix smirks at me from his bed, sitting up ready to start another damn game.
