A King's Name

No one's POV:

Ichigo held his sheathed blade up, blocking the jagged blade of the new arrival. The appearance of this man seemed to shock the young captain, but what shocked him more was how easily the Hollow before them had blocked the crazed fighters blade. The man with the jagged katana jumped back and held his blade to his shoulder.

He wore the same as the boy captain, only with torn-off sleeves. Ichigo sized him up, they were about equal in height, with Ichigo being just taller. The new arrival laughed and said, "Name's Kenpachi Zaraki, captain of the 11th division." Ichigo just stared. He continued, saying, "I saw you destroy Toshiro's little pet dragon just now, that attack looks strong." 

Ichigo simply nodded. After a while, Kenpachi took his blade and pointed it at Ichigo. "I'm always looking for strong people to fight and you look like you'll be tons of fun." Ichigo finally spoke, his glowing, golden eyes locked with Kenpachi's, "Well then you're out of luck, cause I'm not here to fight anyone." 

Kenpachi just laughed before saying, "You don't have a choice." Kenpachi came forward in a dash, dust blowing up behind him, his katana poised above his head for a downward slash. Ichigo simply used a Sonido to get out of the way. Kenpachi swung his blade where Ichigo used to be, forming a small crater.

Looking up, Kenpachi growled, "don't be a coward." Ichigo simply sighed. He knew he wasn't getting away from this guy to find Starrk and Lilynette unless he won a fight. "Before we begin the battle, my name is Ichigo, don't bother telling me yours again." Ichigo slowly drew his pitch-black Zangetsu as he spoke. Black lightning with red outlines shot out from the blade, Ichigo's Reaitsu climbing.

Toshiro looked on in horror. Kenpachi's smile grew wider somehow and he looked even more crazed. He grabbed his eyepatch and ripped it off, golden Reaitsu flaring around him. "You're gonna need me to go all out, this will be so much fun." Ichigo didn't reply as he held his now drawn Tensa Zangetsu beside him, pointed at the ground.

The two combatants stared down one another. The battle began in a sudden flash, Kenpachi using a Shunpo and Ichigo using a Sonido to reach one another. Their blades crossed and the ground around the completely shattered, Toshiro was blown back into a tree by the sheer force of their swings. 

The two fighters disengaged, jumping backwards before coming back together. Their blades flashed through the air, blurs to any witnesses. Black and white clashed and sparks flew throughout the forest. All living things in the forest could feel the pressure of the raging fighters. 

Ichigo still had a calm posture, almost making lazy swings. Kenpachi looked like he was having the time of his life, despite being now covered by at least 10 cuts and many more bruises from Ichigo's hilt smacking into him. Kenpachi roared, his smile opening, as he came forward. Ichigo held up his blade to block, but Kenpachi moved his blade at the last moment and grabbed the blade of Zangetsu with his bare hand. 

Kenpachi's blood came from his hand as he held the black blade, but his smile was still alive on his hand. Ichigo tried to pull back, but Kenpachi's grip was monstrous. Kenpachi pulled his sword up and, in one clean motion, slashed right down Ichigo's chest. Ichigo jumped back as Kenpachi released his sword, now a long scar ran from his left shoulder to the right side of his waist. 

Kenpachi laughed, saying "Now you can stop going easy on me, seeing as I'm dangerous." Toshiro Hitsugaya was watching from afar, the topless Kenpachi was laughing and the Hollow now had a long scar on his torso. Toshiro looked around the forest, or what was left of it. The trees were completely blown away, a giant crater now sat in the centre of the forest instead of the lush greenery.

Ichigo grunted, saying "You're right, I should've been more careful. I congratulate me for being the first person ever to give me a scar like this... not that it will remain." Kenpachi looked confused, his eyes widening as he saw the scar steaming and closing rapidly. Kenpachi growled, saying "Now that's just unfair."
