Our Wedding Band
Chapter Three
“Well, well, well.” Tyson grinned cheekily as Braison and I came down to the bar, everyone else was present except Lily.
“Where’s Lil?” I asked Tyson, confused.
“She’s dead asleep, Callum tried to wake her. Well we all did, but she’s out of it tonight.” Tyson told me. Braison shrugged and ran over to Matty who was already sculling a beer.
“They’re already into the liquor.” I rolled my eyes. I hadn’t drunk a thing since I got pregnant last year, not that I drunk much before then either. My life was always too busy, my alcohol diet was pretty much reserved for award shows and movie premieres, never social like this.
Tyson and I slipped over into a quiet corner, to have a little chat.
“So, you and Callum, how’s that going?” he asked, as we waited for our lemonade’s to come.
“Its fine, Braison and I are perfect now.” I smiled, hoping that I was being truthful; I didn’t dare look over in Callum’s direction.
“I hear he came to your room this afternoon.” He pestered me; Tyson had this thing about him where he had to keep asking useless annoying questions all the time.
“Yeah he did, and Braison practically told him to scat.” I tried my best to not sound annoyed.
“Well so he should, I would have to if he was always hitting on my fiancé.”
“He’s never hitting on me.” I protested.
“Jayde, are you serious?” he looked at me with a shocked expression.
“When has he ever hit on me?” I asked, because I actually had not noticed Harry hitting on me in public.
“Okay, what about backstage of the Ellen Interview?” Tyson asked me, I had to think about it for a moment. Callum did seem very grabby that day, always had a hand on me whenever he spoke to me.
“Tyson, you can’t be serious. He was just being himself.” I pointed out.
“Alright what about the other week when Braison wasn’t at home, it was just you me and Callum and he kept throwing popcorn down your top, tell me that wasn’t just ‘being himself’.” He used his fingers to hold emphasis on the words ‘Being himself.” But he did have a point; sure he’d flung food at me many times but never deliberately down my front like that.
“Maybe, but that’s just one time.” I didn’t want it to be true, Callum was just Callum, and just naturally flirty. Nothing else was going on.
Our drinks arrived; I finally dared to look past Tyson, which was a mistake. I saw what I had feared the most. His big green eyes were staring right at me
---
I looked down at my blackberry, another message from Callum. When I looked back up, he winked at me before turning back to Rocky. The pair of them were playing pool together, meanwhile Braison and Matty were playing some drinking game, they were totally out of it already.
From: Callum.
I wanna talk to you.
It read, I tried not to give anything away, in front of Tyson. If he knew Callum had messaged me he would start to worry and probably tell me a million reasons why I should stay away from him. I did not want to sit through one of his Callum lectures again.
“What are we all doing tomorrow?” Tyson asked rather loudly to make sure I could hear him over the music.
“I’m going to take Lily out along the harbour, show her my home town.” I answered, starting to find my smile again. I’d always wanted to show Lily where I grew up and what I’d do on the weekends as a teenager. She was intrigued by everything, so I knew Sydney for her would be ‘Oh so amazing’ as she liked to say.
