Meeting the Faux-In Laws

You know that moment when you just know something you've done is being misunderstood? Yeah that was me and Baka-San in our little totally platonic moment... with Shade and Shadow thinking he was being flirty-flirty with me for some unknown reason.

Needless to say they had stumbled across us as I was pulling away from giving his shoulder a squeeze, after telling him what a great mate he'd make some other female, and all they saw was me touching him when I had yet to be so familiar with either of them... sigh, males were males no matter what part of the universe you found yourself in I guess. I thought to myself as I cringed inwardly while grimacing as discreetly as possible into my shoulder before casually, and calmly removing myself from the personal space bubble of the innocent male before me. No way was I going to snatch my hand back like a scalded cat and risk further confusion by chancing them thinking my action to be one done out of guilt rather than an attempt to diffuse the situation. Hard pass thanks, things were awkward enough at the moment.

Shade's expression is conflicted as he and Shadow watch me quietly tell poor Baka-San to speed-walk elsewhere for dear life, so I can smooth the hackles on these two before they threw a pouty mantrum. They were awfully sensitive for not having known me for more than a collection of hours really. Not even full days actually. Their kind must be more hindbrain driven, all about instinct and pheromones. To the point that they were already getting territorial over me unconsciously. I shook my head in exasperation and headed to where they stood, arms crossed giving me matching looks of displeasure.

"Seriously guys? Your noses, they work right?" My seemingly left field question is met with expressions that clearly say 'huh?' But at least their arms come down as they give each other perplexed looks before saying that their noses do indeed function properly, and why do I ask? "Did you smell anything that gave you reason to think he and I were attracted to each other stinking up the hallway when you strolled around the corner there just now, hmm...? No you did not, because I not only don't cheat when I have committed myself to a relationship, but I don't see him that way." My own arms are crossed at this point, and my toe is ever rapidly tapping the beat of the highly offended on the deck below my feet. The sounds increasing tempo has the guys eyes getting bigger in alarm as they seem to realize just what kind of proverbial Bouncing Betty they have both stepped on with their presumptions. Yeah, Ashling don't put up with being accused of being any kind of adulteress, nor will I just roll over if you get pissy with me... remember it! My raised brow at their silence has them finally coughing up the crow.

"Please accept our most humble apologies Ashling, we have not had good experiences with females of our kind, and have grown leery of the behaviors of females in general as a result." Shades blue eyes glimmer with sincerity, making me wish I could put some Nair in the body wash of the strumpet that hurt these two, the idea of a pelt bare revenge making me give a evil little smirk before I could catch myself. I coughed into my hand to cover it up, only to glance up into the slightly confused and alarmed  green eyes of Shadow. They really did have some amazing peepers. He glanced nervously to his friend, like he wasn't sure what to say to make his own apology, so I decided to have pity on the kitty.

"I made that expression, because I had thought of an admittedly juvenile prank to pull on the rude female who had upset you guys so much that it still effects you guys to this day... the notion of the results, is why I smiled like that." I told him, and the smirk returned of it's own volition as the image of a more feminine version of one of the guys looking horrified as she saw she was bald danced in my head. They both agreed it would be a bad idea to give me reason to want to visit a prank on one of them if it gave me that kind of malicious glee. I just shrugged and told them I don't get violent or anything, but the other person sure does regret crossing me indeed when I am done with them.
