🗿 | The Necklace (Jikook)

JIKOOK ANGST

Jimin is a kindergarten teacher; Jungkook is a military soldier, currently holding the rank of sergeant. 2 years ago, they got married. The wedding was grand, their honeymoon was great, and their new home was a bit luxurious.

Jimin was used to Jungkook leaving him to go to war. After they wed, Jungkook doesn't want to leave Jimin and plans to quit. Jimin told him that it's alright cause he's used to it and doesn't want to let himself stop doing what he loves.

5 months after their wedding, Jungkook was sent to war. Of course, Jimin was afraid to lose him. Before Jungkook leaves, he gave a necklace he usually wears to him, saying "When I come home, return it to me. This will let you remember that I'm always here with you."

Jimin smiled at the thought and clutched the necklace tightly. They couple passionately kissed. Jungkook hopped on the bus and bid his husband goodbye.

Everyday, Jimin prayed. Hoping that his husband will come home whole. He also thought of adopting someone.

6 months later, Jungkook safely arrived at his abode. Jimin welcomed him with a tight hug. Jungkook told him all about the events happened during the war.

"Kookie, can I ask you something?" Jimin spoke.

"What is it, Minnie?" Jungkook responded

"Can we adopt a child, I really wanted to have a child to take care of."

"Of course we can, when?"

"Next week maybe."

Soon, the went to the orphanage and adopted a 7 year old child named Soobin.

Few months later, Jungkook was again sent to war. A day before, Soobin cried with the thought of his father leaving him. Jungkook again gave the necklace to Jimin. "I'll be back, I promise."

"Sarge, the enemy force is too strong. We need to seek refuge!"

"Call the commander, tell him that we're taking refuge."

Jungkook turned his head to the other direction and saw a grenade falling down to his fellow soldier. He ran to the soldier, telling him to go away. The soldier was wounded. Jungkook moved quickly as possible. Luckily, the are now away from the the explosion.

"Today we are gathered here to mourn the death of Sergeant Jeon Jungkook, who gave his life for the sake of the nation. A loving father and husband, and a warrior."

The priest sprinkled holy water on the coffin. Jimin and Soobin silently cried. Jimin clutched his husband's necklace tightly.

"Mr. Jeon Jimin?"

"Yes, it's me. Who are you?"

"I'm a friend of your husband, Jeon Jungkook at the military. I'm sorry to tell you this but, he died. He was shot while taking refuge."

Tears fell from Jimin's eyes, he thanked the soldier and closed the door. He cried at the loss of his beloved husband.

"B-but y-you p-promised, Kookie."

Two soldiers neatly folded the flag and gave it to Jimin. The hat to Soobin. Then, they did the 21 gun salute.

The coffin was lowered to the ground. After, the relatives and guests left. Jimin and Soobin only stayed. "Dad, what will happen to us without papa?" Soobin asked, "I don't know." Jimin replied. He glanced at the necklace, then to Soobin. He got an idea.

Jimin kneeled down and put the necklace on Soobin. "Your father gave this to me only when he was going out to war. He said that with this necklace, I won't be lonely when he's gone. I want to give this necklace to you as a remembrance that your father is always there beside you."

Soobin held the necklace and smiled "Thanks dad."

The two then hugged each other tightly and left the cemetery.
