"mr. yoon, i'm afraid the tests returned positive."

jeonghan nodded sadly at the doctor's words, he had expected such results really.

only an idiot wouldn't know it really. the symptoms were prominent like coughing up flowers, feeling more sick and, of course, they started showing after joshua showed that he could never like jeonghan like that.

that was the way to trigger hanahaki, anyways. when it's obvious the other party doesn't reciprocate your feelings, also known as unrecruited love.

joshua was always just out of jeonghan's reach, a little too out of his league. he was just too good for anyone.

there was that faint whisper at the back that joshua would never love him that way and that he was just digging his grave, but jeonghan never gave up hope.

and look where that got him.

on the bright side, the daises looked beautiful, even if they are stained with his blood.

"i highly suggest you take the surgery." the doctor speaks up again when he realized jeonghan wasn't going to start talking anytime soon. "it has a 97% success rate and mostly positive feedback."

jeonghan nods, fingers numb from the cold temperature inside the doctor's office.

his mind is elsewhere.

blindly stumbles out of the office after giving the doctor a polite bow and wanders down the busy halls of the hospital.

'what am i going to do?' is a revolving question in his head that could summarize almost all of his emotions at the moment.

a sudden 'ping' from his phone managed to pull him from his train of thoughts to nowhere. he managed to fish out his phone and smiled when he realized it was from one of his friends.

cheollie: where r u?

choi seungcheol was one of jeonghan's childhood friends. they've known each other since middle school and had stuck together since then.

now, they were two college students in their last year there. jeonghan finishing up on his programming degree while seungcheol was on his way in getting his marketing license.

they never kept secrets from each other. but jeonghan never told him- or anyone for the matter -that he was coming here.

he never told anyone about the flowers or the coughs. he didn't want to be a bother to anyone. he wasn't worth it.

you: sorry!! the cafe was full so I had to take some detours and go to a different one. you want anything??

the lie came quick and easy and while it did hurt for him to lie to his best friend like that, he didn't want to worry him so much.

of course, like classic seungcheol culture, his reply was almost instantaneous.

cheollie: we have seungkwan and jisoo over. seungkwan says he wants his frappe and a strawberry donut.

jeonghan couldn't suppress the chuckle that came out. that was just classic seungkwan.

seungkwan was another friend of his, a sassy freshman in their college pursuing theatre. a bit of a loud-mouth, but he means well.

you: yes sir! (O3O)>

he clicks his phone and stuffs it into his back pocket as he starts his trek to a local cafe he knew to get seungkwan's orders. it's a good thing he brought his wallet with him today.

just a short preview of a book i was planning to write. inspired by seventeen's 'flower' which included a lot of themes to hanahaki.

it's also fitting seeing as fallin flower will be releasing soon ; )

lemme know if it's good enough to be written into an actual book!
