A few days later....

I walk into Gwen's ward, seeing her ready to go. She jumps into my arms. I spin her around the ward. It's not long before her lips are pressed against mine. She pulls away, and her hand moves down my chest slowly. "Peter?" She asks. "You feel thin, and muscular. Have you been working out?" I smile innocently. Her hand moves across my arm, feeling my muscles. "Maybe....."

I unlock the door into our apartment. Gwen runs through with Emma to our room to feed her. I sit down on the couch, and wait for Gwen to return. I listen to Gwen comfort Emma. She is such a great mother. Before we got married, she would always go on about having a child together. She was so happy when she found she was pregnant. And here we are now, with a baby girl. I shake my head almost in disbelief. Nine months went so fast....or for me it did anyway. I can't imagine what Gwen felt like, carrying around a baby for nine months. There were bad days, but good ones too. Gwen comes walking out, giving me the thumbs up as she does so. She sits down beside me, and wraps her arms around me. I put an arm around her shoulder, and she rests her head on my shoulder. We just sit there, quite happy.

In about an hour, I can sense something's not right. I stand up, and pull my shirt and jeans off, to my red and blue spandex suit. I open the Window carefully, before I hear Gwen say -

"Be careful."

"I will. I love you."

"I love you too."

I swing out of the Window, and land on a tall building. I see a man carrying a knife and gun down below. I see several people laying dead on the street. The police back away slowly as he comes towards them. The man throws the knife at one of them; stabbing him right in the heart. He falls to the floor; dead. The man walks up to him, and wrenches the knife out of the deceased police officer. I tell myself what Gwen said - be careful. Especially around this guy. I swing quietly up to the next building, and just as I land, A bullet zooms past me. My heart stops, but forces it's self to keep beating. I reluctantly swing down, and throw two webs; one at each weapon, from behind. I pull them together, allowing the police to handcuff him.

Or that's what Peter thought anyway.

I swing back to my apartment, to our bedroom window. Gwen is sleeping peacefully. I crawl in beside her, as she turns around to face me. "You ok?" She says tiredly. "Yeah. I'm fine. You get some sleep. You look tired." I say. She smiles softly at me, before turning around again. It's not long before I fall asleep, dreaming of the mass murderer, who must have killed at least 7 people in a row tonight.

I wake up. It's still dark. I look over to Gwen, still sleeping peacefully. I thought I heard something. I listen closely. Nope. It must have just been Emma. I close my eyes, and sink back into the bed. I hear it again. I sit up instantly, and Gwen starts to notice something's up. She sits up, and stretches out before asking -

"What are you doing?"

"I thought I heard something."

"Aw, baby. You hear things every night."

"No, this was like,...like something tapping against glass."

"Something tapping against glass?"

"Yeah."

She raises her attention to this, and says -

"You locked everything when you came in, right?"

"Yeah."

"Peter I'm sure it was nothing."

She stands up, and walks to Emma. She makes sure she's ok before returning to the bed. She turns to face me, a worried look on her face. "Peter. Just..just....keep a look out if you hear anything again. Ok?" She says, moving slightly closer to me. She snuggles into me, and I put my arm around her. I can't sleep. I don't think I'll be able too for the rest of the night.

I hear a loud knock. I sit bolt upright, worried when Gwen isn't beside me. I hear her chuckle slightly. "I'm right here." She says, as my eyes meet the doorway. I fall back into bed, as she comes towards me. "God, Woman. You scared me. Don't do that to a man." I say. She laughs softly. "Did you hear anything else last night?" I think back to last night. "No. Nothing else. Maybe I was just imagining things." I say, as she runs through to the kitchen. I smell smoke. "Gwen?! Did you burn the toast again?!?" I shout through to the kitchen.

"Shut up Parker!"
