bengal kitten

the last kitten we had to put out front was a small bengal kitten i had nicknamed tiger. her real name was rosie but she often growled at new people and due to her fur, it had always suited her.

she was running over my legs as i sat leaning against one of the back walls, twirling my hands in the air to get her to chase back and forth. she hadn't yet gotten the hang of co-ordination so she kept stumbling over her own legs and when she did I couldn't help but chuckle.

there was the sounds of cats all around me, the mews and purrs, the claws in the toys, the lapping at water and the munching on the bowl of dry biscuits they always had stocked up. to some it might have been annoying but i found it relaxing to be in that enviroment.

talon often left me alone at work, unless i was needed and he had assured me that i wouldn't be today. that's why, when he opened the door i gritted my teeth in annoyance having not wanted to be disturbed. i gathered he was going to tell me to put away the last kitten but i wasn't ready to stop playing with her yet.

"talon, i thought i wouldn't be needed?" i spoke up before he had even properly entered the room, concentrating on tiger in front of me rather than his feet i could see in my peripheral vision. 

i did, however, focus when shoes much too small to belong to talon came into view. i followed the shoes upwards to run my eyes over a girl who i had never seen before, even after living in this town for all of my life. 

"michael, this is isabella, she's a regular." she waved as i stared, even more shocked that i had never seen her. she wasn't pretty, exactly. her faced was rounded with a cute button nose and her eyelashes too long for her wide eyes but it seemed to fit her as a person. i watched as her mouth turned up in an awkward smile and realised i had been staring.

"oh hel-" my voice cracked and i turned a shade of red. "hello, nice to meet you." i turned away, not wanting to look at her while i was blushing and started to catch rosie's attention again.

"nice to meet you too," she giggled and i found myself smiling.
