No pov:

The two girls, with much resistance from Mal, accomplish their task. Mal was now sitting bare under the thin sheet from earlier. Evie sat behind her dabbing at the marks scattered around Mal's back. There was the occasional hiss from Mal, but other than that the room was quiet.

"Okay that should be all of them. Lean back and I will look at that cut on your face." Evie says putting down the cloth in her hand. Mal leans back into the taller girl's shoulder and allows Evie to examine her face. The cut was most likely caused because of a ring. Maleficent would give her best henchmen dragon-claw rings, to indicate they belonged to her.

"It was Ardorot who came in this morning. He said he needed to remind me of the consequences for disobeying the rules. I guess she's caught me sneaking out for awhile now." Mal explains laughing a little at the reality of it all. Evie frowns as she wipes the blood from the laughing girl's face.

"You're gonna need stitches, can you sit still while I fix you up?" Evie asks getting up from the bed. Mal nods as a door swings open. Carlos had returned with a tired look on his face.

"It's ready. It took a while for me to find the heater, but I got it going now." Carlos says pointing behind him as he spoke. Evie nods, her focus on the stitches she was applying.

"We will have to wait until Jay gets back with Hayden. I don't want her walking on her own yet." Evie says finishing up the stitches. Mal was laying flat on her back her hands crossed over her stomach. Her eyes were shut, but she was still alert. She was trying to prepare herself for the agony she would endure once her body hit the water. The hot water would wash out the dirt and bacteria but would also cause the cuts to sting.

Evie stood of to the side, watching the shorter girl as she lays on the bed. Her focus changed as soon as she heard the screech of the gate sliding open. She left her spot to meet the boys at the top of the stairs. Hayden was running up in a panic.

"Hayden, she's okay. I need you guys to put her in the tub so we can clean her cuts." Evie says holding Hayden back for a few moments. His panic died down once he caught a glimpse of his sister. Jay puts a hand on his shoulder, taking his attention away from Mal. They nod to each other and make their way over to her. Hayden walks over to her bedside and reaches for her hand. Mal's eyes open at the sudden feeling and she sees her brother.

"Hayden..." She says leaning up to hug him. The teen had seen his sister in this state before, but it was much worse this time. Hayden had been sent off on a 'mission' before Mal was raped. Maleficent knew he would try to protect her, so she sent him away before he could interfere.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you. Mom sent me away to do some bogus mission for her." Hayden says squeezing her hand, Mal shook her head.

"It's okay. You need to be out there keeping up our reputation." The purple haired girl giggles running her fingers through her brother's blue hair.

"Help me up, before my cuts get infected." Mal says swinging her legs over the side of the bed. Evie was right behind her holding her waist. Jay came up at Mal's other side and put his arm around her. The two boys help her up and walk her over to the door Carlos was holding open. Inside Jay is replaced with Evie, and Hayden goes to the door. The sheet covering Mal's bruised body is removed, as Evie helps her into the tub of warm water. Mal starts to mutter things under her breath as her feet touch the water. Not wanting to hear his sister scream, Hayden grabs a cloth and walks over to them. He puts the cloth in-front of Mal's mouth, and she gives him a confused look.

"Bite down. Your screams are gonna be heard from the street." The boy says looking into his sister's eyes. She takes the cloth into her mouth and bites down on it. Evie gently puts Mal down in the water, the other girl screaming in pain. Hayden looks away from the two and covers his ears. He was all to familiar with her screams and cries. As children their mother would force him to listen to her cry out for help, as her henchmen raped and beat her. If he refused, he would be punished as well. Evie comes up behind the boy and puts a hand on his shoulder.

"Let's give her some space." She whispers, looking back at the now calm teen in the tub. Hayden nods and holds the door open for her. The two join Jay and Carlos up on the roof. Hayden walks over to the edge and takes a seat. Evie sits next to him sighing to herself.

"Thank you... for taking care of her. It really means a lot." Hayden says keeping his eyes on his feet. Evie puts a hand on his shoulder, knowing just how much this must be hurting him.

"I would do anything for her. I wouldn't be a very good friend if I didn't help her." Evie says looking out over the edge of the building. The hide out was on the edge of the island. From the roof you could see Auradon on the other side of the water.

"She loves you. She never says it, but I can see it. Ever since the day you guys went out to the docks, she's had this spark in her eyes. Do me a favor. If anything happens to me, I want you to promise me you will be there for her. We both know she can take care of herself, but she needs to have someone there for her to lean on. Can you promise me that?" Hayden asks looking over to Evie. The teen meets his gaze and nods.

"I promise, as long as I'm around she'll never be alone." Evie says giving the boy a tight hug. He smiles at her and looks back over the water.

The friends stay on the roof for another hour, just staring out at the water. The sudden creak of a rusty door breaks them from their thoughts. Four heads turn to the roof entrance, where Mal stood fully dressed.
