Dad texted me, "You what!?" Yeah this was about the reaction I expected when I told him, "Hey I chased after a criminal and fought him instead of having the police do it."
"Whoa Dad. Please calm down. He wasn't armed or anything like that." I had also decided that I wouldn't tell him about the gun.
"Doesn't matter. What matters is the fact that you ran towards the danger. Your supposed to run away, from it." Yea definitely wouldn't tell him about the gun.
"*sigh*" I typed sarcastically."Oh, your sighing on me? Okay how bout no phone for week. I'll shut it off, allll the way from here in NY." He threatened.
"Sorry." I apologized. I really hope he wouldn't do the _____ Shutdown. My phone was my life, if It turned off for the week I'd have to resort to pen and paper. The old way.
"Well did the lady get her purse back?" He texted back.
"Well after a month she will."
"Oh after the trial right?" He asked.
"Yea."
"Shit, Boss is calling even though I'm on break. Stay safe."
"Love ya." I waited for his text back, but after five minutes, I assumed he was busy and went to sleep.
I threw my sandwich in my locker and closed it. And when I did, that guy appeared on the other side, I forgot his name. He looked smug and wore a sly grin that told me he knew something. What was it? Hell, if I know. "H-hi." I mumbled.
" 'Sup." He smiled even more and it weirded me out. "What?" I asked.
"Nah, don't act like you don't know. I know what happend particularly yesterday at 10:30 AM. Hmm, maybe at laundromat, specifically the one on Harbor Boulevard."Oh, so he knows but how? I had my hood on and I'm pretty sure I had my mask flipped over. Unless I didn't. Fuck.
I tried to look non-curious, "I gotta go to math." I started to walk but he stepped im front of me, "Wait. C'mon. Just admit it, only to me. I won't tell anyone, I swear."
I could tell him but what's the probability of him telling all his friends? Most likely? Very likely? But what's the point? Oh this just in, 'Local Asian nobody stops a thief' What good would that do? Absolutely nothing. I pushed his shoulder, "No." And walked to my math class.
I sat down in my class. Ms. Burks. Started off with an easy lecture and an easy warm up, then sent us off to do more, easy work. Well at least for me. Tanya's goon pinched my shoulder and I handed her my paper. I pulled out my paper to write my next chapter, when another copy of the work smacked on my binder. I looked up, He's in this class too?
"Hey I need help with this." Said Efrain. Oohh, his name is Efrain. I remember now.
"With what? It's easy." Honestly just pay attention
"Well Im'ma be honest I'm a little retarded and plus it took me until about eleven last night to figure out that you were the one that took down that criminal." He smiled as in triumph.
I sighed, "It wasn't and would you stop with the whole 'hero' thing. It didn't happen and even if it did, I'm not one. And shut up yeah?" Why is he so persistent?
"Aw fine, but can you please help me? I don't get it." He gave me some very terrible puppy eyes.
"Just for that, no." Then the bell rung, I started to get up.
"Hey! Wait! Was it the eyes? Or the question?" I left him dumbfounded, walking to lunch. Today was hot, so after my aerospace class, I quickly retreated for the cool shade of the tree.
