GLIMMER
I'm just standing there, holding the handle of the sword I just used to kill her. The red head's body is still, with her eyes rolled in the back of her head.
She's dead, and it dawns upon me that there are two of us left. Marvel and I. Wasn't that always the real competition?
It's certain that this years winner will be from district 1, so our district is probably already celebrating. There's no way Marvel is going to win. He's too ugly. That troll.
In my note from Cashmere, she said that the games would be ending very soon. I'm sure everyone wants one big final showdown, so I'm ready for anything.
The rest of the day, I get everything ready. I restock my backpack, and hang my bow on my back with the strap. I reload my rocket launcher so it's ready for anything that gets in my way.
I can see it already. Me in a beautiful gown being interviewed after winning the Hunger Games. Caesar and I share laughs, and the crowd is cheering. I can see me going home, and being welcomed back by my cheerful district. My mom will hug me, and I will become best friends with Cashmere. Speaking of Cashmere, another silver parachute begins floating on me.
I open the little box attached to the parachute, and find a eyeshadow palette! Yay!
There is also another note.
Glimmer,
You are doing so well and I'm unbelievably proud of you! You only have one tribute left to kill before we can be reunited. Marvel has a spear though, so he can fight. But so can you! Blow him up or stab him like you did with the red head. This will be the last letter you will get from me. See you very, VERY, soon. Love ya!
~Cashmere
I smile and stuff the note into my pocket. That note made me realize how lonely I have been these past days. I really need someone to talk to. I miss Cato! I miss my family! I miss Cashmere! I know for a fact that I won't miss Marvel when he's dead though.
I decided that I would climb a tree to get some sleep. I grab my rocket launcher, but I accidentally press the trigger. The rocket shoots, and blows up a nearby tree.
"Whoops!" I say.
I only have one rocket left. I'll save that one for Marvel.
I climb the tree, and sit in a big, comfortable fork that fits me. It is concealed by leaves, so ugly Marvel can't find me. I take out some crackers, and munch on them. I am also very thirsty, so I drink a bottle of water. Once I feel better, I lay my sleeping bag out and try to get some sleep.
I wake up to the sound of howling and barking. I climb down the tree with all my supplies. It is night so I don't know what it is, but this is definitely the finale. I begin running to the cornucopia. If I can get up there, I will have a better view. Once I finally make it to the top of the cornucopia, I see these cute puppy things burst through the bushes. They run over to the cornucopia, and begin trying to climb up. I think they are trying to lick me.
"I reach down to pet one, when I hear a scream. I look over to see an ugly familiar face running my way. Marvel.
