GLIMMER

There is a soft knock on my door.
"Come in." I sob. The handle twists and the door opens, revealing Cashmere.
"I've got a plan." She whispered.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"To get rid of Marvel in the arena!" She says. I smile.
     "How?" I question.
"Just wait and see." Cashmere replies. "Get ready for training."
     "Okay."
Cashmere exits the room, and I go to my bathroom. There is a black shirt with red stripes with the number 1 on it, as well as black leggings. I wonder how they got there.
I try the clothes on, and almost gag in the mirror. It's like, so ugly! I think that maybe if I wear my hair cute enough, it will distract people from looking at my clothes.
I begin doing two fishtail braids on both sides of my head. When I'm done, I go out to the kitchen for breakfast. Sitting at the table is Marvel. He glares at me, then turns away. I roll my eyes as I'm handed a bowl of cereal. I begin munching on my food when Cashmere and Gloss join us.
"Today is a very important day." Gloss says. "You both are to show your greatest strength to the other tributes. Marvel, I want you throwing spears, and Glimmer, you are to shoot a bow."
"Yeah, like she could even hit the target." Marvel mumbles.
"SHUT UP YOU DISGUSTING FREAK!" I yell. Marvel's face turns bright red.
"I TRIED BEING FRIENDS WITH YOU, BUT IF YOU WANT WAR, I'LL GIVE YOU WAR!" Marvel yells back. Then he slams his fists on the table, stands up, and gets into the elevator. I wait a minute before I get into the elevator.
When the door opens, I am one of the first tributes here. I stand as far away as possible from Marvel. A few minutes later, the elevator door opens, and Clove and Cato walk out. I wave them over, butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
"Did you fix things with Marvel?" Cato asks dreamily.
"Not at all. Speaking of Marvel, I know he's decent with spears in all, but I overheard him saying he would kill us in our sleep later in the games. I think it would be best if we kicked him out of the career pack." I reply. I know that's not true, but I really don't want Marvel in our alliance. Cato looks at Clove, and she nods.
"You're right. We can't take any chances." Cato says. "Let's go tell him."
We make our way over to ugly Marvel, and surround him.
"I'm sorry Marvel, but you're out of the alliance." Cato says. Marvel looks stunned.
     "Wha... what?!" He stutters.
"We heard things about you, and we're not willing to gamble our lives over it." Clove adds.
"I can't believe this! I trained my whole life!..." Marvel sobs. Then he turns to me.
"You... you will pay for this!" He yells. By now all heads turn to us.
"You rat!" Marvel hissed as he approaches me. I back away, but Marvel keeps coming. Then Cato stands in front of me, blocking his path.
     "Leave her alone!" Cato growls.
Stunned, I smile. Maybe he does have feelings for me! And for once I had hope.
