They all talked for a few hours about Greek mythology and their previous adventures, hoping that it would divert their minds from the recent mishappenings.
The Avengers stayed in cabin 11 that night. Steve and Nat both felt very out of place in there, in the middle of teenagers with godly powers and all, so Bruce decided to stay with them despite the offer he got from Athena's cabin.
Tony was about to stay in cabin 11 with the rest of the Avengers when suddenly he thought about the movie guy, Percy Jackson... The one who looked like he was in pain earlier that day.
Tony looked at the sky, which was still looking stormy and weirdly colored, then stared at the cabins blankly, trying to figure out which one was Percy's. His eyes moved to a cabin with hammers and fire all around it. That must be his cabin. He smiled, it was beautiful.
Suddenly, someone came out of there and started walking out of the little camp area. Tony looked at the guy for a minute and then started following him. They walked for some time and soon reached a seashore.
There seemed to be another guy sitting there on a rock or something. Tony walked closer to him and realized that the kid wasn't sitting on a rock, he was sitting on the water. The ocean was crashing violently around his little area as if protecting him and keeping other people out.
This had to be Percy Jackson.
The kid from the Hephaestus cabin threw a rock at him to get his attention only to get hit by a huge wave in return.
"Leave me alone, Valdez," Percy said. Tony squinted his eyes and realized that the guy was indeed Leo Valdez.
"I'm not here to get you back, actually, I'm here to mourn with you," Leo Valdez said.
Percy looked at him for the first time and created two pathways leading to the place he was sitting on, one pointing towards Leo and the other pointing towards Tony.
"You might as well show yourself Stark," Tony stared at him as Percy looked back, "Your feet are touching the ocean, I can sense you."
He walked up to them and touched the wave Percy was sitting on, it was hard as a rock and there was a small clearing around it He sat down and looked at Percy's broken expression. Should he tell him that there is a way to bring everyone back?
"Hey, kid-"
"No," Percy said firmly. Tony looked at him and opened his mouth to say something.
"You don't get to say anything anymore. It's your fault, everything that has happened is your fault."
"Percy-"
"Leo, he doesn't deserve sympathy! None of them do!"
"This is still not right, they have been through a lot too," Leo said, standing in front of me on the small patch of ground. Tony didn't know why Leo was protecting him but he didn't interrupt.
Percy's eyes were storming, he looked dangerous and unpredictable, just the opposite of his usual self, the other side of the ocean.
A huge stream of water shot straight at Leo. It hit him right in the chest and he flew backward. Percy had a mad glow in his eyes.
"Who did you lose, Stark?" Percy said suddenly.
Tony had to pause for a few seconds to form an answer. He didn't want to admit it, but Percy scared him. This mere teenage boy was many years younger than him. And yet he scared him.
"My- my kid."
"A child."
"No. No, not really. Not my kid." Tony said slowly. There was a pinch of hurt in his eyes but he hid it well.
He felt like Percy would understand how family does not always have to be related by blood. This entire camp would.
Percy nodded. He looked at Tony for the first time and examined him from top to bottom.
"Why are you here?" Percy asked slowly. Tony almost forgot, he never mentioned anything about the rescue plan, and right now was not the right time to do it at all.
"I told you, we messed up with the stones-"
"How. Tell me, what were you doing with them."
Tony stared straight into Percy's eyes.
"Percy, just because you're mad doesn't mean you have a right to blast me with water," Leo said suddenly, appearing out of the darkness with Nico, Thor, Natasha, Steve, Bruce, and a new red-headed girl right behind him. The avengers stood at Tony's side with pity and guilt on their faces. Nico was looking down at his shoes.
"Hey, I'm Rachel." The red-headed girl said with a small smile. Her hair was messy and her outfit had paint on it. She didn't give off demigod vibes but she didn't look completely normal either... Her eyes were extremely green.
"Can we visit Camp Jupiter? I need to see Reyna and Hazel. I need to make sure that... they..." He choked back a sob and continued to look down.
Percy's eyes softened and he came closer to Nico without touching him. He looked like he wanted to hug Nico and comfort him in some way but he knew he couldn't.
Percy looked like he was trying very hard not to place his dagger at Tony's throat. Tony suddenly felt enraged that this kid would have a thought like that when all he was trying to do was help him. Then again, Percy didn't know that Tony wanted to help.
Leo had a questioning look in his eyes. he wanted to trust these strangers. They looked like they could be trusted but he just didn't know anymore.
They all just looked at each other and had a silent agreement not to do anything crazy.
Until the final consequence took place.
The winds were strong and angry and the Ocean started to look even more threatening. Suddenly there was a huge noise and the sky started changing color.
At first, Banner thought that the sky was finally clearing up. He looked up, hoping to see a night sky. What he saw in front of his eyes was so unusual and wrong that he started to feel dizzy.
The sky was pure black. Not the usual night sky. It was starless, cloudless, and moonless. All that was visible was a black void of darkness. Suddenly the crashing of the water against the shore became mute and every single noise around them stopped. It was pitch dark, the wind had stopped at this point and his ears were in excruciating pain.
Everything around him felt distant. He could feel a high pitched scream in his chest because of the pain but he couldn't hear a single thing. He could feel sound in his head. Sound with a frequency so high, that he fell on his knees clutching his ears, screaming, yet not being able to hear himself.
Then suddenly it all stopped and he fell on the floor, panting. He looked up to see the dark void, but this time covered with grey luminous clouds. It looked as if the most severe storm of all time was about to come.
He looked at his friends and then at the young demigods. Percy had his hand on Rachel's heart. He looked bewildered and shocked. He gave his red-headed friend one last glance and then stared right through each of us. He looked like a maniac, an ordinary guy drove to madness.
He opened his mouth and said softly,
"No one."
"No one hurts my friends."
