So I'm watching every Steven Universe from episode 1 and I just rewatched Ocean Gem again for the first time in a while, and I just put two and two together.

Also, Great is an asshole, when Steven healed his leg and he faked that it was still broken: "Sorry bud, maybe you just need more practice." It should've been obvious on how big of a blow that would be to the poor boy's confidence. He then goes on to guilt trip Steven when he has to go on a mission.
