Did we mess it up?

Big time doubt, but what if we fucked up the Steven gets corrupted storyline?
I still find it unlikely that it was true in the first place, but if it was, what if this hiatus that started just a few episodes into the new series is just so they can rewrite that?

Like, I know it's unlikely and probably impossible due to the time constraints (make a new story, animate said story, have it all done in a few months) and budgets (animation is expensive and I doubt cartoon network would just give them more money to spend on changing something just cause we all predicted it), but I just thought I'd throw that out there just so I can say "Ha, I knew it" if it happens, just like how I was saying Pink was a shitty character before the movie was even announced (maybe after? All I know is that it was way before it was released.)
