Marco watch Tom's face turn from its usual desaturated purple, to a dark reddish colour, and he chewed on his lip. He didn't want to tell the truth, but he promised that he would. He looked everywhere but at Marco, and he quietly whispered.

"I'm sorry, but... Yeah... I do. I like you a lot, Diaz." He smiled weakly at Marco before he continued. "I've had a crush on you for a while now. I know I don't have a chance, but can we still be friends and just pretend like this never happened?"
"Absolutely not." Marco said, and he put his hand on Tom's shoulder and looked him in the eye.
"Tom, I know it's wrong, but I think I like you, too. And last time I tried to pretend like these feelings never existed, it made both parties upset. Maybe... Maybe we can give it a try, one day." He smiled as he watched Tom's face shift between expressions.
"What about Star?" Tom asked. He didn't want to hurt Star, even if she hasn't been the nicest friend recently.
"I've been thinking... Well, we just argue a ton. Like, a ton." Marco sighed and continued. "I don't know how to break it to her, but I just don't like her like that anymore."
"That's what I felt like when I broke up with her... Marco, can I kiss you?" Tom spoke quietly, but Marco heard everything, and he hesitated before whispering.
"I, uh, I mean... Um... Sure.." He tried to keep his cool, but his heart was racing, and sweat was starting to drip from his face. He got impossibly redder when Tom leaned in, slowly closing the distance between them. He stopped about an inch away from Marco's face and quietly asked "Are you sure you want t-" Marco pressed their lips together. Tom took a sharp breath, and he melted into the kiss.

After a moment, they both pulled back and looked at one another in awe, and Tom was the first to speak. "Marco... Wow. I didn't expect that, um... Thank you..?" He scratched the back of his head and giggled, causing Marco to do the same. Their time together was cut short when Star burst through a portal and grabbed Marco, dragging him through it without saying a word. He looked back at Tom, who did a cliche hand-phone motion and mouthed "call me," and Marco smiled and nodded. She threw Marco onto his bed and closed the portal quickly.
"Uh, Star-" "MARCO! Guess what you got!" She smiled and bounced on her toes, and he stared at her questioningly.
"Well you seem really excited... What is it?" He leaned back and propped himself up with his elbow, and she pulled a letter from behind her back.
"Oh not much... Except these two Love Sentence tickets that came in the mail!" She held it into the air, and Marco gasped before he jumped up and grabbed them.
"I didn't even know they were going on tour, this is great! I can't wait to show these babies to Tom!" He pulled them out of the letter and held them up to the light, not seeming to notice Star's almost angry expression.
"So you're taking Tom?" She asked, clarifying her anger in her tone.
"I never said that-" he tried to explain but she cut him off. "But you make it seem like that. Why is it always about Tom. Tom this, Tom that, why don't you just go marry Tom, for crying out loud!" She stomped to her room and slammed the door.

"Ugh, Star..." Marco fell back onto his bed and groaned, and he pulled his phone out, deciding to text Tom.

Marco, 10:28 am
'Heyy Tom, wanna come over for a bit, i got something you'd reaalllyy wanna see'

Tom, 10:30 am
'oh sure, i'll be there in a sec'

In less than a minute, Tom was in the room, and he sat down on the bed.
"What's up, Marco?" he leaned back on the pillows, and Marco shoved the tickets in his face.
"Look what I got! Two tickets! To the Love Sentence concert on the 24th! Wanna gooo?" Tom's eyes widened and he stared at the tickets like they were real gold.
"Heck yeah! I tried to get a ticket to this one, but they were sold out. Thanks bro!" He hugged Marco tightly before letting go.
"I thought you'd take Star, or one of your earth friends."
"Oh, no. It would be awkward to take Jackie, and Star is mad at me because I said I wanted to show you my tickets, so I decided to take my best friend with me, instead." Marco shrugged, but Tom's eyes widened and he looked almost like he was going to cry.
"uhh, Tom?" Marco put a hand on his shoulder, and Tom grabbed his arm and pulled Marco to him. He had Marco in front of him, his back to Tom, and he wrapped his arms and legs around the boy. He buried his face into Marco's shoulder and smiled.
"I didn't know I was your best friend." He sniffled and Marco patted his head.
"Of course you are, Tom."

Tom held onto Marco tighter and nuzzled his neck, being careful not to whack Marco with his horns. "Tom, your tears are like, really warm." Tom stopped to wipe his eyes before he went back to hugging him. Star opened the door and walked in, looking at the ground the whole time.
"Marco, I'm sorry I got so upset, I knew you wanted to take me but you're just always around Tom, and I kind of got a little jealous, so, if you still wanna take me, you can." But then she looked up, and she paused.
"Tom..?" She narrowed her eyes at Marco, and looked back to Tom.
"What are you doing here?" She glared at him. They didn't talk much after they broke up and moved on, and surely there was tension growing between the two.
Marco decided to answer for him.
"Well since you were mad at me, I asked Tom to go. So, I'm sorry Star, but I can't take you. I only have two tickets." She looked furious. She turned on her heel and marched out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

"Dude, are you gonna be okay?" Tom turned Marco's face so that he was looking at him, and Marco sighed, smiling at Tom. "Yeah, I think I'll be fine."
