It was difficult for Isabelle, knowing there was nothing she could do to make Aedric stay. And it wasn't as if he didn't want to. All he could think about was the kiss they shared in the library. It's not that he didn't try, he did. For months. He was asked for his return ever since the end of the battle. He finished what he came here for, there's no reason for him to stay anymore. His kingdom needed him. His siblings needed him. He couldn't keep them waiting anymore. But he didn't want to leave the woman he loves either. When she asked him for his hand in marriage he knew she didn't mean it, not from the bottom of her heart. She was hurt, alone. And he knows, he knows she still loves Jacob.

"Richard, how is she holding up?" Aedric queried from the family's trusted guardian. Aedric's chamber as been emptied, a ship waiting for him at the harbor. He bid his goodbyes to everyone in the castle. To Lena who he made her swore to protect the queen till her last breath. He bid his goodbyes to the queen's sisters whom he finally received the opportunity to meet properly. They're just like Isabelle. Especially the little one, she has her eyes. The only person left to bid was her. He knows she was staying out of his way on purpose. It hurt her, and it hurt him.

"She'll manage your grace, I know she's hiding from you but in all honesty, she's waiting for you" Richard let out a slight chuckle and gestured to him towards the sky bridge.
She's been spending time there far too often than before. She enjoys the view of the castle. She could see everyone and everything. The people she has sworn to protect, went on battle for.

"Are you going to stay hidden from me?" Aedric's voice lingered from behind Isabelle, a voice she hoped to hear before she wouldn't for a long time. She briskly turned to face him. The warmth of his smile making her feel safe again.

"That wasn't my intention, I just couldn't watch you prepare to leave"

"I've come to say goodbye Isabelle" his voice lowered, not wanting to make his words feel heavy. Not wanting to make the situation any more difficult for the two of them. Tears welled up in her eyes, there was no purpose in trying to hide them anymore, at least not for him. He said he'll see her again, that he'll visit. He said many things. But how many of those words are unintentional empty promises? She's loosing a friend, someone she trusted, someone she grew close to. She's loosing a best friend. How many more people must she watch as they leave?

"Come here" was all he said as he pulled her in for a hug. That was enough. For the both of them. Isabelle sank right into his chest, his body was hard yet it felt just so comfortable for her. He placed his chin on her head and she buried her face in his chest. I do hope you come back

The hug was long, and needed. They didn't want to let go of each other, she basked in his warmth, knowing she won't feel it again. Not for a very long time but she's knows that all good things must come to an end.

The two of them hesitantly let go of each other. Sadness caged in his eyes as they met her brown ones. There was so much she wanted to say, but it's as if something was holding her back. She couldn't speak.
