Chapter 27: Wading

“Are you really inviting her, I don’t like her at all. She thinks she's so high almighty” Lanae yelled rolling her eyes at me.

“Yeah I'm inviting do you not understand how much she's helped me it's only right” I sighed. “Well I won’t be there then” She spat crossing her arms. I got up from the bed “Look you had a rough morning and you trippin” I said walking towards the door. “I'm serious Chres it's either her or me” she shouted making me have to choose which was ridiculous. “Obviously I'm with you right”? I asked.

“Right”? She frowned her face.

“Is Spring my girlfriend? I asked.

She looked down at the ground twiddling her thumbs “No” She mumbled. “I can't here you” I said.

“No she isn’t” She said lowly.

“Come on now it's my big night let's not ruin it” I begged. “Whatever Chres” She pouted. I walked downstairs getting ready to leave for the barber. I don’t know why she's acting so funny she's never acted like this before. All of a sudden Spring is a problem. Speaking of Spring she's in for a big surprise tonight. I decided to call her to wake her up I l know she isn’t up this time.

“Good morning Springy”

“Good morning Chresanto”

“Lol I'm surprised you're up girl it's only 11am”

“Ha-ha very funny I'm about to start my day thank u very much” she laughed

“With me right? I asked

“Boy I'm gonna see you tonight”

“Yeah you better be there”

“Or what”? She asked

“You gon get another whooping and you don’t want those” I said

“Oh my gosh and there will be no other nights okay” she said

“Why not? I asked

“You know why come on now” She sighed

“Oh”

It was an awkward silence

“Ummm I'll see you tonight okay and be on your best behavior” she chuckled.

“Ard, Spring I lov-

Beep Beep Beep was all I could hear in the background. I hung up the phone placing my phone to the side I have a lot of thinking to do.

Spring

After I left the boulevard with Loren I decided to pay my mother a visit. I just had a lot of things to let off my chest and she's the best person to talk to. I pulled up to see her gardening the front. “Mommy” I smiled getting out of the car.

“Hey baby come give your momma some love” she smiled. I hugged her rocking side to side. We let go and she stared in my eyes. “Come on Hun I made your favorite cake “she smiled. We both walked in and I sat down on the chair watching her cut a slice of red velvet cake. “Just tell me what's going on child I can see it in your eyes” she said.

“Ma I've kept a lot of things to myself you know and that's how I've always been you know, always making sure everyone else is okay but myself” I sighed.

“And that isn’t always good” she said

“I know I just – I don’t know how to say this” I sighed placing my hands on my head. “Just remember that whatever bad things you do I love you unconditionally” she said.
