hwasa

"yo hwasa!" she can hear someone shouting, but her head pounds too loudly for her to open her eyes. "hwasa!" the voice shouts again, louder, although maybe it isn't shouting, and it's just her awful headache. min-su, one of her many managers is nudging her shoulder with a waterbottle. "wake up, fans are here to see you." he whispers, and hwasa winces painfully. she can hear the faceless horde from behind the curtain, a pack of wild animals that somehow want to eat her alive. her heart beat quickens, and she clutches min-su behind her for balance. he holds her arm to steady her, but not in the least gently. he wants to eat me, hwasa realises startlingly. he wants to peel my skin from the tips of my toenails to the line of my hair and wrap it around his tongue. she looks back at min-su, at his black eyes that perhaps conceive concern but are almost definitely ravenous. his pupils dilate until his eyes are big and round and big and round and hungry, his long drooling tongue lolling out between his razor teeth and slobbering all over her face. hwasa screams but nothing comes out, instead, she can hear the shrieking of the fans behind the curtain- "FEED US! FEED US! FEED US!"
and suddenly min-su is whispering it as well. "feed us. feed us! FEED US! FEED US! FEED US!"
"wake up, your fans are here to see you!"

wheein

they've been waiting in line for what feels like hours. although it has been at most thirty minutes, wheein begins to feel anxious about the amount of time this is taking. earlier, as soon as they had walked into the building, wheein's hopeful eyes had fallen on an empty stage. ringing across the venue, hasty words were being said into a microphone. "we apologise for any incoviniences, but due to her recent medical conditions, hwasa of DYSMB has been suffering from a bout of unconsciousness, so her meeting with you will be slightly delayed. we apologise for any inconveniences.."
wheein's blood had run cold at this sentence, as she knew that hwasa suffered from no health conditions. and she had come all this way to see her- only that she didn't come? and wendy , poor wendy had wasted money to come to a fan meet that didn't have anything in it for her. she was sure wendy already knew of wheein's motives, and was just waiting for the right moment to rat her out. speaking of the devil, wendy grabs onto her shoulder. the room has gone eerily quiet, along with the fans, and the current members of DYSMB on the stage. a wolf whistle goes up, and wheein's heart jolts in the best way possible. almost to a fanfare, her glorious hwasa struts out, sits down, looks out into the horde of fans straight into wheein's eyes, and winks, waving girlishly. wheein can't help but squeak in embarrassment, a light blush painting her cheeks. "did you see that?" wheein says to wendy in excitement. "my soulmate- hwasa, she- she- she looked at me!!" wheein stutters out, forgetting to maintain her lie. "your soulmate?" wendy questions, raising an eyebrow. "i should have known."

three;
hwasa
hwasa has calmed down, but the cold sweat that still clings to her skin is a reminder of her breakdown. min-su tells her that it's time to go out to meet her fans, and she barely registers replying. she gets up from her seat shakily, and realizes that there's no one else in the waiting room.

its plushy interior is barren, free from the rest of her members- who are probably outside doing what she's supposed to be doing. hwasa quickly makes her way over to a mirror, and takes in her appearance. she tries hard to convince herself that she doesn't look pale and sick, and that the meager salad that she ate today was the proper amount of food for her to be eating. sure, she loves her curves, but management told her days ago how the public feels about her heavier figure. it is her job to please the public, so now she's on a crash-diet.

min-su leads her out into the backstage area and wishes her a hushed 'good luck'. she knows that it means nothing but for her to work hard for every penny she makes. and she does. hwasa struts out onto the stage, waving flirtatiously at her fans, scanning them, until her eyes land on one. chin-length platinum blonde hair in two tiny french braids, roots starting to grow out a little; dark sunglasses; arms crossed over a tight red top; red lipstick, and a pout. hwasa cant help but feel drawn to the girl, and she swears their eyes lock. it's a familiar feeling, but not like déjà-vu- it hadn't already happened, but it was meant to happen. she winks, putting it off as a fan she's met before. the girl's heart races, and hwasa can feel her excitement. she pulls a chair out from the long table and grabs a mic. "annyeong everybody!" -wait, the girl's heart races?  "i'm so sorry i'm late, i've been a bit sick lately," hwasa pouts, and successfully regains the hearts of her fans, "and i'm really looking forward to signing your things and meeting you!" she smiles.

the sign goes by groggily, names, faces and greetings smudging together into grey. hwasa plays with her bandmates, and pretends to want to be there. of course, she is endlessly grateful for the support of her fans, but you can't be hwasa every day. she feels like hwasa is a personality, a mask she paints on for the world. but inside, ahn hyejin, the town girl from jeonju, is shaking.

the girl in the audience is here now, and she's just gone past jennie, and is coming towards hwasa, with a paper clutched in her hands. her sunglasses are still on, and it's raining. she is standing in front of hwasa now, and hwasa is trying to figure out whatever her connection with this fan is. why is there an astronomical pull that is drawing her towards that girl, against every odd. the girl takes the folded paper, and slides it across the table. "can you sign this?" she asks, without bowing, or acknowledgement. and then hwasa knows.

"it's you."

she unfolds the paper. it's been months, but she can recognize the letter she left.

wheein takes off her sunglasses, and hwasa lookes into eyes as dark as the night sky. she chuckles, shaking her head slightly, and her voice sounds like a thousand silver bells.

"it's me."

and hwasa's falling.
