Mia's pov
------------
After Damon told me what he had gone through in his life all that I saw was red. The rage I felt toward the Hunters before was doubled, even when they killed Riley did not compare.
Riley was my childhood friend, we grew up together. We were as close as peas in a pod, him India and I. But me and Riley were inseparable, always messing around and playing.
He was two years older than me so he shifted when I was fourteen. He was a large brown wolf, and was very strong so he became a pack protecter. Every fight he encountered he would win, he was a great fighter.
One day, word spread that hunters had been spotted in our territory. Riley was as my house when he was called out to help. He was reluctant to go, we were having a movie night. But he left anyways. I showed him to the door, waved him off and shut the door. I wasn't worried. But unknown to me that was the last time I would see him.
They never even found his body.
I convinced my self that he got lost, and would be back any moment. But as the weeks past I lost hope. He was gone, dead. Hunters ruin my life then ruin my mates.
My Riley.
He had his whole life ahead of him. The Hunters ripped that from him. As they killed him they killed a part of me. Even now, three years on, I still think of him. I know my pain cant come close to Damon's but I do know that it is the worst feeling in the world.
I felt the pain he did when he was talking about he brother. Even when I told him that he was not a 'stone' as he put it.
His pain intensified as I told him that I could help, and his eyes turned dark and mournful.
"Even if you could love me, you cannot heal an old wound. The hunters changed me, they dug their graves. I am the one who fills them." my eyebrows furrowed in confusion, what does he mean? He answered that for me.
"I am a murder! I kill the hunters!" He yelled, I gasped. I did not expect that! His head flopped down, he gave me one last look before sighing and turning to my window. He began trudging over to it, looking ready to leave. I jumped over to him and grabbed his arm. He looked down at it, then turned his attention to my stern face.
"Now look here Damon!" she insisted "You are not a murderer, you dispose of threats. You are a hero, killing them saves thousands of us!" I shouted, willing him to believe me.
His eyes became thoughtful as he wondered about my words, but they turned cold as he spoke again.
"But being my mate, it would put you in-" I cut him off impatiently.
"In danger I know, but when we are together we are safe! And do you want to know what I thought when I saw those bullet holes in you back? I pledged to kill all hunters!" I revealed angrily, my wolf taking over as I relived the memory off the scars on Damons back.
Damon stared at me, wide eyed, before engulfing me in a hug. My arms slid around his toned waist, hugging him back. He rested his head on mine and I felt him breath in my scent. I felt the need to do the same, so I laid my face against his muscled chest and breathing in his intoxicating musky smell.
For now, at least, we were together.
After several minutes of serenity in each others arms, Damon and I realised that he had to leave before India found us.
