"Hug me tighter." I gripped the back of his shirt and pulled him in. He tightly held onto my back and sat still. "Thank you...." I sighed. "I'm scared, Markus. I don't know what he'd do to you."
"Don't worry about me. You're the one he's after..."
"Yeah... but there's no way he's going to let you off the hook like that. That's not who he is."
"Well, that doesn't mean you shouldn't look after yourself, too." He argued.
"Promise." I held my pinky out. "You'll stay safe and so will I." Markus stared at my finger and looked back in my eyes.
"What are you doing...?"
"A pinky promise?"
"What?"
"Nevermind." I kissed his lips and pulled away.

Markus stood up and dug in his dresser to find clothes, then changed right in front of me.

"You're getting comfortable." I watched as he continued changing. He sighed and left the room once he finished changing. I heard him shuffle around in the kitchen and after a few minutes, he returned with a bottle of water and a bowl of soup.
"Try to eat this." Markus set it on the table beside me and ruffled my hair while he walked around the bed to his side. I quickly dug into the soup and drank the bottle of water. Markus turned the Tv on to the cooking channel and intensely watched. I scooted over to him and hugged him.

Markus wrapped an arm around me, but kept his eyes on the TV.
"Why won't you look at me?" I asked and tangled our fingers together.
"This is a good show."
"Kiss me."
"I wouldn't see who wins."
"You'd miss a kiss from me just to watch a show?"
"I can get your kisses whenever."
"Hmph..." I pouted and let go of his hand. I scooted to my side of the bed and drank the broth from my soup.

After the winner was announced, Markus looked at me and crossed his arms.
"Do you want your kiss now?"
"No. I don't want it anymore."
"Are you lying?"
"No."
"You are."
"Why do you assume I'm lying?" I snapped my head to look at him. "Why are you arguing with me about what I'm thinking?"
"I don't know, I just thought th-"
"Well, I don't."
"Jaymes, are you really upset about this?"
"Aren't I allowed to be?"
"I'm not saying you're not allowed to be mad, I just... I think that it's not that serious of a matter to be all that mad about..."
"Whatever. I'm irritated." I grabbed my phone and scrolled through my notifications.
"I'm sorry..."

"Do you want to watch a movie?" Markus broke the silence.
"No." I answered.
"Y-You can pick..." He looked in his lap and spoke quietly.
"I said no." I grabbed my stuff and left the room. Markus followed me out of the room and watched as I put my shoes on.
"Where are you going?"
"To see my brother." I lied. I left the apartment and headed down to my car. Once I sat in my seat and started the heater, I grabbed my phone and clicked Misha's contact.
"...I shouldn't do this but..." I clicked call and put it to my ear.

"Jay? I haven't spok-"
"Where are you?"
"...at home..."
"Can I see you?"
"What's going on?"
"Please?" I tightened my fist on my steering wheel.
"...fine." He sighed. "I'll text you my address but if I get killed by that boyfriend of yours, we'll have a problem. Tell me what's going on first."
"... Can't I tell you in person?"
"You fought, didn't you?"
"It's stupid..."
"Fine. Don't cry about it while your driving." He hung up and sent his address. I followed the directions from my gps and knocked on his apartment door when I got there.

He opened the door and dragged me in.
"Talk. Why did you fight..."
"It's stupid... you'll laugh."
"Jay, when was the last time I laughed at you when you talked about your problems?"
"I got mad because I asked him to look at me but he was too invested in the stupid cooking show... And then when he finally looked at me, he asked if I wanted a kiss and I said no because I was mad..."
"And?"
"And then I told him that I got annoyed that he didn't believe me when I said no. He thought it was stupid to be mad about it because it is, and then I got more mad because he was right!" I felt like crying over this stupid fight for no reason.
