yoo kihyun fidgeted uncomfortably in his chair. he was sweating for petes sake and he wasn't even nervous about the exam. his pencil switched between his fingers but he couldn't concentrate on his paper. something is bothering him.

this certain day made him want to finish the test as quickly as possible but he doesn't want to fail. plus he had to meet his friends after the exams.

why did the exam have to be this very day?

kihyun's stomach was tightening, his face pale and his forehead wet because of the cold sweats that are dripping from it. he wiped it away with his handkerchief and look around to see if anyone notices his situation. luckily, everyone was too focus on their papers.

but hyungwon was able to notice this from kihyun as he was only sitting behind the boy. kihyun was acting weird ever since he came inside the classroom. as if he was afraid of something. hyungwon was sure that joshua, who got ignored as well earlier, noticed it too but the latter seemed to ignore it.

hyungwon squinted his eyes at kihyuns back and looked around the room to find the calendar. his mouth dried as he realized why kihyun was acting like that.

it was today. the finals where everyone is focus and pressured on their test. just like 3 years ago..

the first set of exams ended and everyone was still nervous, having one more set of test tomorrow.

joshua finished packing his stuff and was about to go to kihyun but the boy was already out the door. he looked at hyungwon but his friend could only give him a shrug.

"what's up with kihyun?" joshua asked, slinging his bag across his back, "he's been frowning all day. so not kihyun-like." he chuckled.

hyungwon eyed joshua, "stop acting like you don't know why."

joshua's smile faded. he swallowed the lump that he's been trying to ignore the whole day but here hyungwon was forcing it back into his throat.

"what are you talking about, bro?"

"it's today, joshua. and you know what's up today."

joshua scratched the back of his neck and sighed loudly, "i don't know what you're talking about."

hyungwon scoffed, "are you trying to be innocent now?"

"are you trying to say that i'm not?"

"no, but why are you acting like you don't know?"

joshua came face to face with hyungwon and poke his chest, "because i. really. don't. know." he eyed him, emphazising each word.

the two guys stared at each other down when jungyeon slammed her fist against the teachers table, "you shitheads done arguing?" she cocked an eyebrow and gestured for the door.

"let's go! kihyun will be waiting for us at the caf. we don't wanna make the pres wait, he's not feeling well."

jungyeon looked down on her fist and pushed the fact the she also know what the day meant for the boys. she was still nervous but she was good at hiding her feelings. she just couldn't believe that after all these years, that girl will still be the reason for them to argue.

she's gone! for fuck's sake! jungyeon cursed in her mind.

the three quietly reached the cafeteria with cha eunwoo waving at them. the three sat seperately and decided to ignore changkyun's confused face.

"i can't believe everyone is as gloomy as the day." joshua remarked as he sat beside the still quiet kihyun.

hyungwon scoffed beside eunwoo, "what do you expect? a celebration? knowing that today is-"

"yah! chae hyungwon." kihyun cut off, eyeing the frowning boy, "watch your words."

hyungwon wanted to snap back at kihyun but he knows too damn well what the consequences of his actions will be. kihyun's eyes were glued to him, squinting like it was saying something. hyungwon knew what those dangerous eyes meant so he sighed in defeat and slumped back against his chair.

changkyun, on the other hand, felt the tension in the room. he decided to catch everyone's attention buy loudly clearing his throat. he smiled when all their gazes shifted from hyungwon to him.

"if you don't mind me asking, what is today exactly?"

eunwoo gulped. just like kihyun, eunwoo was also quiet the whole day but he never tried to ignore his friends as he casually give them his bright smile. but despite this, his eyes were different. they were puffy, like he just woke up from crying.

before any of their seniors could answer, eunwoo immediately placed his hand on changkyun's shoulder.

"it's just the finals. you know they're seniors, they feel more pressured than we are." eunwoo glanced at the others, observing their reactions.

changkyun took his time in examining the others expression as well, but all he could see was exhaustion and.. anguish. he shrugged the thought away and smiled. unlike them, changkyun didn't even shed a single sweat on the exam.

"right. must've been really hard for you guys.. but don't worry, i'm pretty sure all your hard works will pay off well." he smiled reassuringly, trying to lighten up everyone's mood.

"let's continue about what we came here for." kihyun chipped in.

despite feeling unwell and nostalgic, he pulled himself together so nobody could ever realize how affected he was. but he failed, not knowing that it wasn't only him.

he cleared his throat, "are you all prepared for the party?" he asked.

joshua nodded in response. with hyungwon constantly pushing every memory back into his mind, he couldn't even make another statement anymore. he just wanted the day to end, maybe tomorrow it'll be different.
