Crunch. Snap. Another crunch.
You awoke to the soft noises of someone lurking on the ground beneathe you, they weren't very cautious when it came to making noise as its rather hard to make so much on a ground covered in soft soil and pine needles.
You blinked and slighty sat up, quiet as a mouse as you peeked down through the cluttered branches at the ground.
No one.
You were 100% sure you heard someone, why else would you have awoken?
You sat in silence for a few seconds, listening closely for any noises at all. Still nothing.
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding in and sat the rest of the way up. It was morning now, maybe six or seven AM. Laying on the branch had made your back stiff, but back pain was preferable over pain that was sure to come from.. them..
You climbed down the tree and silently enjoyed the feeling of solid ground again, but it was then you noticed footprints in the dirt.
Large footprints. Definitely belonging to a male. If they had been Madara's, why did they come from the direction they did? The branch you laid on was pointed in the direction you were supposed to be going, but the footsteps came from that direction instead of the direction from the cabin.
Maybe it was someone else. You thought as you started in that direction. You wanted to run, but it'd make too much noise. You took off your shoes and socks so you could tread as quietly as possible.
You sighed. If only you hadn't have accepted Itachi's offer at that resturaunt only a few days ago. You wouldn't be in this situation now. Semi lost, hungry, and being hunted by an insane mafia boss.
After about 15 minutes of walking you found a small clearing in the woods, but as soon as you walked into it you broke into a cold sweat and got the urge to run, but you were frozen. Your eyes laid on a large shape in the leaves, you were confused at first but then the realization hit you.
It was a body.
A burning feeling shrouded your throat, you were frozen but you managed to make your way to it. You kneeled next to it, your eyes open wide and your mouth silent.
The blood covered leaves stuck to your legs. You looked over it and you realized it was a girl. You didn't know her, thankfully. You'd feel awful if one of the girls was killed because of you. Slowly, you looked her over. Multiple cuts and bruises and the cause of death? The large gash in her throat. You wanted to hurl, your eyes stung and you had to turn your head.
After a moment taken to calm down, you looked at her again and noticed a rope tied around her ankle with a rolled up paper inside. Carefully, you took the paper and opened it.
'(Y/n), darling, im going to have to ask you to stay in this spot so I can come to collect you soon. If you disobey, you will be punished.
-Madara'
You swallowed hard. Seeing this body, you no longer believed he was fibbing. You thought about it. While yes, you probably had good chances to distance yourself from here, he seemed to already know what you'd do as he put this body right where you just so happened to wander.
Take a chance or play it safe?
Suddenly a snap came from behind you and in an instant you were on your feet and already running in the direction you were going before.
"You can run but you cant make it very far on that pitiful amount of stamina you have!" You heard a voice call from behind you. It wasn't Madara's either.
You dodged trees left and right while your feet carried you as fast as they could. Your heart was hammering in your chest because you knew he was right, your stamina was on the low side.
A few moments went by filled with your feet pounding on the ground with no end in sight to the forest. And, to your surprise, there was a terribly placed root sticking out of the ground covered by leaves that just happened to be on your trail you were running.
Your foot caught it and you tripped, hard. Your foot didn't come out of the root as you fell and you fell sideways, twisting your ankle into a painful angle. You cried out as you tried to get back up and keep going, but your injury full haulted any chances you had of escaping.
"Well well well, i'd say this is what happens when you disobey your superiors, don't you think, (y/n)?" They purred as they appeared by your side. "You gave me quite the chase there, but nothing I couldn't handle." The man crouched next to you and into your view. Kabuto.
"How'd you find me?!" You growled, shakily attempting to get up one last time.
"It wasn't too hard. I've been watching you ever since your night spent in that little tree. You aren't very good about covering your tracks you know." You were confused but then you remembered, you were in such a daze that night you forgot to leave no traces of yourself.
He took your hands in his and pulled a rope from his waistband, quickly tying it around your wrists and then your ankles. "No! Let me go! I don't want anything to do with Madara!" You yelled. You squirmed in his arms as he hoisted you, but the searing pain that shot up your spine with ever movement quickly stopped you.
"Take that up with him, if he lets you live after disobeying him."
