Here I am, a grown woman, crying over fairytales.
I read The Ugly Duckling last night and I cried.
You are all my swans.

The majority of you may not know it, but you are all my swans.

I've been reading The Women Who Run with the Wolves.
I've been reading it sporadically and intuitively.

Last night, I decided to pick it up again, and when I did, I happened to open the book to the story of The Ugly Duckling. At 1st, I thought, "Oh, gah. Maybe I should find another story. I've heard this one a million times, and I just don't see how this is going to be 'profound' or spiritual at all."

My eyes scanned over the 1st paragraph - Clarissa's explanatory preface to the tale drew me in and suddenly, I remembered myself as a little girl: financially and racially divided from her peers. Intellectually and spiritually divided from her so-called friends and family members.

I picked up my phone to record my thoughts as I read on...

By the end of the introductory preface, I had already come to 11 minutes of pivotal re-discoveries about myself. I read on...

By the end of the tale itself, I had recorded a total of 31 minutes of dialog and I even struggled to stifle tears.

I realized that not only had I manifested my way to finding the paths and outlets that allow me to express myself from my truest core, but in having found them, I had also found my "Family".

I am only just beginning to recognize my beauty and strength as the people of wonderful communities I involve myself with continue to dash their feathers across me and groom me with their camaraderie, mentorship, and acceptance.

You all are my swans -
And I am doing everything that I can so that, one day, I will be able to stretch out my wings in wonder and fly with you.
