The creatures surrounded us. Animals I'd never even heard of before crowding around us. And the colors were flying. All the colors that had burst out of the trees were now flying too and fro above us. They were all talking and the noise was deafening. Then one voice rose above the others.
"Everyone quiet down please! I know you're excited about being able to come out of hiding but you must quiet down!" Lilitine yelled.
They all listened to her and soon after she finished speaking there was silence. But even the silence made noise. As I looked at the creatures surrounding us I noticed that they all seemed to hum with excitement. And the crowd seemed to throb. All of them were moving in some way. Pacing back and forth, rocking side to side, looking around at everyone. Now that they were quiet, though, I could focus on trying to figure out what each creature was. There were little pigs that had a horn on the top of their heads and they were running around so fast that they were just pink blurs. There were tigers who, one second, were sitting right in front of me, and the next, they completely disappeared. There were giant lizards with feathers on their tails that turned into spikes every once and a while. And the most beautiful were the snakes. They weren't like the snakes that everyone hates and fears. They were all types of colors, white, pink, yellow, blue, green. And they had wings. Each one had a different wing shape and four legs that had toes that were sticky like a lizards. They were beautiful. Of course, there were other creatures but I couldn't completely see them.
One of the lights that were flying above us came down and hovered in front of Lilitine. Then it started talking. I couldn't hear exactly what it was saying but I knew it was the light that was talking. They finished up their conversation and then the little light flew towards me. Once it got close enough I saw that it wasn't a light, it was a little person with wings. It was a guy and when he spoke I knew right away who it was.
"Hi Nickie! Sorry I had to make you think I was a lizard. At least you can see what I really am now. And I'll tell you so that you know for sure. I'm a fairy! And I can change form and my voice. Pretty cool right!" Twitter smiled when he finished talking.
All I could do was stare. This was crazy. All the animals we had come to know weren't animals at all. Instead they were these creatures that were disguised as animals.
Gendamyr came over to me and said,"It seems this is as much a surprise for you as it is for me."
I shook my head,"I had no idea that this was what they all were."
"I hope all these creatures will not be accompanying us on our journey. It would bring too much attention to us. And I hope the queen is ready to leave. We have others that we need to pick up on the way," Gendamyr said.
I looked at Lilitine. She was talking to a group of fairies about something. I watched as all of them left except Twitter. They were talking about something important. I could tell because Twitter wasn't talking as much as usual.
I went to talk to them but before I got up to them I heard a bit of their conversation:
"...help. We need to go to the mountains to get them," said Lilitine.
"I agree. Do you want me to send a party out to get them?" asked Twitter.
"No, they won't listen to any fairy we send. We need to send one of the kids," said Lilitine.
"Nickie?" said Twitter.
"She would be the best person to send. They would listen to her," said Lilitine,"Yes, I think she is the one we will send. But we can't send her alone."
"Do you want me to go with her?" asked Twitter.
"No, I think I'll send the young wolf-man, Fralinn I think, with her. He doesn't seem like the others and he's strong. I also think he has a Gift that will help him keep up with her," said Lilitine.
