The guard raised his blade, but as he was about to bring it down onto the defenseless vampire, a loud booming voice appeared, "stop you imbecile!" someone shouted. Edwards opened his eyes, seeing the king behind the guard, the guard dropped his weapon and backed away. The king glared at the guard, a stare that pointed daggers at whoever was behind it. There was silence, a very long silence, Edwards was the one who broke it "so king Darius, what brings you to my cozy little cell?" He was sarcastic, then again he was angry that he had been locked away for weeks.
The king turned his gaze to the chained up vampire, "Edward Matthews, I've heard quite a bit about you, you moved into one of my nice cities as a baker, not long after people just abruptly disappeared." Edward stayed silent, it was like a heavy mist that filled the room, Darius continued to speak "and then, you tried to attack my only son, he's not left his room since he returned to the castle."
Edward stared at king Darius, before speaking "why are you telling me this?" Edward asked the king, chuckling briefly before saying "oh wait, you wanna give me another shot at him?" Darius shook his head, "you'll learn from your mistakes, you'll remain in this dungeon until you've learned the lesson we want you to learn"
Weeks went by, from weeks it changed to months. The king never returned to that dark cell, Edward stayed stuck to the wall, the guards would give him food, they never said a word to him anymore. Matthews sat in silence, other than his own rambling. He was used to long periods of silence while he was stalking, or just waiting for something, but sitting for months in silence, it very nearly broke him. Edwards slept most of the time, the guards just stopped showing up, and Edwards had no idea how much time had passed anymore. All he knew was that he would be trapped, forever, in this tiny cell.
