CHAPTER NINE
' TOO MUCH. '

Ash shook her head as she rolled over onto her front. She placed two hands by the side of her head and tried to heave herself up, groaning as her muscles screamed. Thanos stared down at her, and she replied with a furiousness that caused him to raise his eyebrows. Rogers and Thor flew at him, but he battered them away like flies.

"Give me the stone, Little One."

"Fuck you."

Tony flew forward, barreling into Thanos. The titan stumbled, and Ash gasped, looking away and coughing again. Blood spurted from her mouth, and she pushed herself to her hands and knees. Stark went to grab the Gauntlet, but Thanos seized him, his hand around his neck. He tilted his head, and Ash stumbled to her feet.

Before she could call on her magic, Thanos closed his fist.

Tony went limp in his grip, and Ash froze, gaze following Tony's body as Thanos discarded it and turned his attention back to her. Her irises turned black, magic cracking around her palms. She swallowed, letting out a breath as she gathered her magic.

And now the end is near, and so I face the final curtain. My friend, I'll say it clear, I'll state my case, of which I'm certain. I've lived a life that's full. I travelled each and every highway and more, much more than this. I did it my way.

"You won't get the Stone." Ash launched a piece of magic at him, and it caused him to stumble back. Terror raged around her as she walked towards him, dust floating through the air, but nothing registered in her mind. There was no army, no Avengers, nothing other than the man in front of her.

Who she was no longer afraid of.

Regrets, I've had a few, but then again, too few to mention. I did what I had to do. I saw it through without exemption. I planned each charted course, each careful step along the by-way, and more, much more than this. I did it my way.

Peter's scream pierced her ears as he dropped to his knees beside Tony's form. She glanced in his direction, pushing the body and the boy back behind a force field.

"What happened to you, Little One?"

"I'm tired of you and your torture. You raised me to kill and have torn the things I love apart. I'm gonna kill you, and I won't be merciful."

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew. When I bit off, more than I could chew, but through it all, when there was doubt. I ate it up and spat it out. I faced it all, and I stood tall and did it my way.

"So be it," he replied.

She drew up her power further as she watched him readjust the Gauntlet on his hand. She charged forward, grabbing his hand as he lifted it, magic exploding from her. The glove didn't budge, so she jumped away and hit him with a blow of energy.

I've loved, I've laughed and cried. I've had my fill, my share of losing and now, as tears subside. I find it all so amusing. To think I did all that, and may I say, not in a shy way. Oh no, oh no, not me. I did it my way.

He went to charge at her, but she raised her palm, magic curling around it before slamming into him. It wrapped around his chest, shooting down his arms and legs and lifting him into the air. He screamed as it tightened before splitting into two sections around his body.

For what is a man? What has he got? If not himself, then he has nought.

She tilted her head, and her magic jumped to his Gauntleted arm, ripping it from its socket. He screamed, but she didn't relent. The glove moved to stop beside her, and it exploded, leaving the Infinity Stones to hover in the debris. She tensed her outreached hand, and the black magic continued to pull before his body gave way to the force and tore apart.
