I finished up my coffee and stole one more glance at Black Hat. He looked so familiar, but from where. I stared directly at him, trying to remember where I saw him. Because I knew that I knew him. Then it hit me.

~Flashbackkk~

Y/N, the bloody 8 year old lay on the floor, crying. She shook uncontrollably and wanted to be saved from her harmful parents. The a loud crash came from above her. She peeked her head out from the basement in curiosity. Tears still blurred her vision, but she could make out a guy with white on, and what looked like a bag on top of his head.

She poked her head out a bit more, not wanting to be seen by the imposter. Then she heard whisper-yelling coming from a deep voice. It stung her ears at how raspy the voice sounded. She then noticed another man, who was way taller than the other one. She could make out a coat and a hat.

"You idiot! Hurry up and grab the artifacts! We can't afford to be caught right at the moment!" The one with the unpleasant voice spoke. The smaller man was shaking in his boots, and pulled out a gun. He shot one of the archetypes and it turned into a small, blue cube. Y/N gasped but quickly clamped her mouth shut. "Shh," The raspy voice spoke. "I can hear somebody." Y/N didn't like this. She scrambled up from her position and quietly tip-toed downstairs.

She could hear somebody's footsteps approaching the basement door. She sat in a corner and curled up, placing her hands around her legs. She hoped she wouldn't get caught. Maybe it was her parents coming down to see what happened. The door creaked open and she saw the tall  figure through the doorway.

Y/N quieted her breathing as the figure stepped inside. "Flug! There is a child!" The voice suddenly boomed. Y/N flinched at the sudden outburst. The tall figure approached little Y/N. Her breathing hitched as he leaned down to her level. He observed her small body, thinking to himself.

"What are w-we going to do with it j-jefe?" The smaller guy asked. The taller figure picked Y/N up gently. She winced at the sudden contact, and that her wounds are still fresh. The tall man, not wanting to accidentally drop the child and alarm her parents, cradled her in his arms."Who might you be, little girl?" The tall man asked softly. Y/N, feeling somewhat safe in this guys arms, snuggled closer to his chest. "Y/N." She whispered. "And why are you all beat up?" He asked her, not minding the blood that was seeping into his clothes.

"Daddy hits me, and he did it again tonight." She told him, feeling the fresh tears prickling at the sides of her eyes again. The man didn't reply, he simply just looked at the trembling girl. Y/N dug her head into his chest. The man didn't feel anything towards this child, but he could sense the child felt safe in his arms. How foolish, he thought, she thinks she's safe in my arms. She should know she's only a small little mouse in the hands of a hungry lion. "Sir?" the girl asked, breaking his train of thought.  "Yes, child?" he asked. "What is your name?" He stared dead into her dull, E/C eyes.

"My name is-"  Then he suddenly go cut off by a loud crash and crazed laughter. "Flug! What was that?!" The man yelled. Y/N flinched but didn't move from his grasp. "DEMENTIA! STOP THAT!" The man supposedly named Flug yelled. The man holding you growled. He saw the lights flicker on. "Arwoo?" A blue bear growled curiously. "Y/N!" She heard her father yell. She cowered in the tall man's arms. "Promise me something, Y/N." The man told her. Y/N nodded, carefully listening. "Promise me that you will never speak of us coming here." He directed.

"I promise." She said, reassuringly. The man smiled a toothy grin. His teeth were a mysterious green color. The man put her down gently. "Good." He then grabbed Flug, a blue bear with a yellow flower on its head, and a girl in a green hood, resembling a lizard. He then grabbed the bag of cubed goods, then disappeared. She didn't know why she would sacrifice herself like that to a stranger, but he sparked her interest greatly. Just as they left, Father came bursting in the basement, looking at the missing archetypes. "What happened here!?" Father yelled. Y/N knew what happened, but remembered what she promised to the man.

"It was me, daddy." She lied. "This was all your fault, brat!" Father spat. Y/N flinched, but didn't fess up to anything. Father brought out the crowbar. He whacked her across the head. Y/N screamed as she felt lightheaded and dizzy. Father whacked her again, harder, drawing blood. She let out another agonising scream as she felt as if her brain exploded. Father put the crowbar back and stomped upstairs.

Y/N silently cried on the floor. The tall man's words repeated in her head. "Promise that you will never speak of us coming here."  "I promise."  She whispered again to herself. Then her felt a sudden great pain in her head again. Her vision got blurred and she let out another blood curdling scream before passing out.

~Flashback end~

"I promise." I mumbled to myself. I then realized I've been staring at Black Hat and he has been staring at me, too. "What was that?" He asked in that same, raspy voice that you heard as a kid. "You..." I mumbled. "I promised you I would never tell." Black Hat seemed confused. "Um... Y/N what are you talking about?" BFF/N said nervously, embarrassed because of me.

"Why are you even talking to me?" Black Hat asked, getting the attention of Flug, the one with the coat. "I was the girl in Evergreen mansion." I blankly said, seeing Black Hat's expression change from confused to surprised. "You kept that promise?" He asked, obviously not expecting me to. "Yeah I did. And I got beat in the head with a crowbar because of it." BFF/N looked at me like I was crazy. I suddenly remembered I can't talk about this to her. "Cool!" The lizard girl yelled.

"Y/N, how long have you been beaten?" She softly asked. I got up, excusing myself. I walked out of Starbucks and quietly walked on the sidewalk, thinking to myself. I accidently ran into somebody. "Oh, my bad." I apologized. I looked up to see a hero wearing a red and white striped suit. "It's okay ma'am! I'm Asahi..." The hero said, slowing down his speech once he saw you. "You're- You're a villain!" Asahi yelled, pointing at you.

"W-Wait what?" I exclaimed. I noticed a yellow beam coming from his hands. "Once I knock you out with my sunlight power, I'm going to lock you up." Before I could react, Asahi was suddenly hit by a blue ray and turned into a familiar blue cube. I blinked and looked at it. "You okay ma'am?" You heard a familiar voice speak. I turned to see Flug standing there with a ray gun.

"Why..." I started, breathless. Flug walked over and picked up the now cubed Asahi. "Why did you save me?" I asked. "Just business ma'am," Flug said while turning to face you. "From one villain to another." Wow, everyone thinks I'm a villain. "Well, thanks." I said. "Roo?" I heard something growl from behind me. I turned to see that same blue bear right behind me. Behind him was BFF/N, Black Hat, and that one lizard girl who thought it was cool Father whacked you.

"If I am correct, your name is (Name close to you name, but not quite there)?" Black Hat asked. "Y/N." I corrected. "Oh! I'm BFF/N, her bestie!!" BFF/N proudly stated. Black Hat ignored her and kept talking to you. "Would you like to join us for dinner?" He offered. I pondered on that. BFF/N gasped. "Y/N, pleaseeee? Can we?" BFF/N whined. I rolled my eyes at her. "Yeah, we'll go to dinner." I told him. Black Hat formed a villainous smile on his face. "Excellent. Meet us on Error road at 8, promise?" (That was a random street name, I'm sorry) "I promise." I said while giving him the smallest smile.

I agreed and we parted ways. BFF/N was babbling on about how she was going to make a good impression for them, especially Flug. She then sighed dreamily and fangirled about Flug. I was relieved that she dropped the beating subject. After a few minutes I wasn't really listening to her anymore as I thought about Black Hat. I thought about the sacrifice I made for him, all because he sparked my interest. I promised him I wouldn't tell. And I promised him I would make it to dinner.

I promise...
