by the time we got to the function, we were both already trashed.

"is that all that you have in there?" i giggled as jess pulled out another shot. she started dying of laughter and i peaked into her purse

"it is!" i shouted "you're such an alcoholic."

we stumbled out of the uber and onto the paved driveway beneath us.

his house was honestly exactly what i expected, huge and luxurious. there were groups of people in the yard smoking, drinking and chatting. surprisingly, the pool was basically empty other than the two girls with their feet dangling in the water.

i could feel the music from where we stood. "well, let's do this." i smiled linking arms with her as we made our way into the house.

"malibu!" i heard a voice yell as soon as i walked through the front door. i glanced over and saw him, gerald.

"oh my god, g!" i shouted wrapping my arms around him. "i haven't seen you in months!"

he gave me a small laugh and proceeded to whisper in my ear "let's go upstairs."
i rolled my eyes but allowed him to take my hand, jessica winked at me and then went in the opposite direction.

she thought we were going to hook up, that's what she always thought we were doing when we hung out but she would be disappointed if she knew what we really did.

he led me upstairs and into a bedroom.. that wasn't empty. "um... what is this?" i asked softly hoping the others wouldn't hear me.

"they're cool, trust me." he shrugged. i was slightly annoyed, he knew i didn't trust anyone with my secrets. everyone in la spills everything.

i cautiously sat down on the yellow loveseat. the room was messy but at the same time it looked as if it was meant to look this way. the lights were dim and the room was clouded with smoke.

"mali." g nudged my arm and handed me the blunt.

i took my hits and passed it along to the man sitting on the other side of me. he was covered in tattoos and he had a blank look on his face as he took the blunt from my fingers.

"she's cool?" one of the other guys asked

"yeah, we've been friends for years. she keeps her shit on the down low." gerald stated, the man picked up the tray that sat on the side table in between the two couches which were arranged in an L shape.

"so you're not his new fling?" the man beside me asked, making eye contact with me for the first time since i stepped into the room.

"no, gerald is basically a brother to me." i gave him a small laugh and g ruffled my hair making me sigh.

"you're going to mess up my hair." i whined pushing him away from me.

we passed around the blunt until it was basically non existent and then the man who had been focusing on his tray handed it to me, along with a rolled up hundred dollar bill.

i took it and could feel all of their eyes on me as i pulled my hair up into a pony tale and snorted the line laid out in front of me.

"alright, baddie." gerald laughed wiping a small tear that dripped down my cheek and then took the tray from me.

everyone did their lines and then i stood up from the couch

"leaving so soon?" the man covered in tattoos asked me

"hmm.. i was just going to step outside for a cigarette." i stated heading for the door. he followed behind me and as soon as i stepped into the hallway he spoke up "mind if i join you?"

"not at all." i smiled as he led the way to a room with a balcony.
