It was 6:30A.M. I had just woken up and realized that it was Monday. I had school today. I hate school. The only good thing about it, is that I get to see Mitch. I got out of bed and went downstairs. All the lights were still off, which made me wonder if anyone was awake. I looked outside, the cars gone. I went to the kitchen and saw a note on the dinner table.
Winter,
Your father and I left early.
Make sure Jerry is up in time.
Love you both,
~Mom
I made myself some hot chocolate. I drank it and scarfed down a chocolate muffin. I got some clothes to wear out of the dryer. I went back upstairs and got dressed. I put my makeup on and checked my phone. I had four missed calls from Unknown. That reminded me of the email I recieved and realized that is was H. I went to my text messages. I got a few texts from my best friend, Axel. I first met her a few years ago. She told me her name was Axel, and I thought she said Avril, like Avril Lavigne. She even kind've looks like her too. Axel has platinum blonde hair with black highlights and blue eyes. She also has pale skin and wears tons of black eyeliner. All the guys want her. She's dating this guy, Hunter. He reminds her a lot of Hunter Hayes, but I just don't see it.
Axel and I met at this party. There was a DJ, pizza, neon lights, and lots and lots of people. I was there with my ex, Kristoph. He was my date. Apparently, she was too. We had a cat fight, but it turns out we weren't the only ones. He was there with twelve other girls, and he didn't even know that we would all show up. Alex and I just sat down and talked for hours. It was like we had known each other forever. She ended up crashing at my house that night. Before we knew it, we were acting like best friends, and we still are like that to this day.
I went to Jerry's room and he pulled an all-nighter. I wasn't surprised. I figured I'd just leave him alone and get Ax to pick me up. She can drive, so it'll be no big deal. I pulled out my phone and dialed her number. It started ringing and I heard a voice.
"Hello?", the familiar voice said.
"Hey."
"Good morning Mrs. Augustine!", she joked.
"Can you give me a ride? Jerry was being a dumbass and pulled an all nighter."
"Sure! I'll be there soon.", she said.
"Thanks!", I said and hung up.
I grabbed my stuff and went downstairs. I heard a car pull up into the driveway and Sparkles started barking.
"I love you, Sparkie!", I said as I walked out the door.
"Hey Ax!"
"Hey, Winter!", she said.
"Thanks for giving me a ride!"
"Anytime! So have you heard about the karaoke bar on Wednesday?", she asked me.
"What about it?"
"A bunch of us are going. Do you wanna come?, she asked.
"Who's going?"
"Me, Jess, Lexi, Stewart, You, Justin, Cam, and Ashley", she said, running out of breath.
"I could go. Could Mitchie go?"
"Umm. I guess", she said.
"Cool.", I said as I turned the volume up.
We were on the station that plays todays hits. A talk show was getting over and all of a sudden, "All about that bass", came on. That was Axel's favorite song. She would just be talking about something random, and then when the song comes on, she would just bust out singing it.
We got to school and went to homeroom together. We just played on our phones the whole time. When the bell rang, that meant we had to go to math. On the way there, I ran into Jessica.
"Hey, Winter.", she said.
"Hi, Jess."
"What's up?", she asked.
"Nothing much."
"Cool. You coming with us on Wednesday?"
"Probably.", I said.
"Nice! Well, I'll talk to you later." and she left to go talk to Lexi, I think.
I walked into Pre-calc and sat in my seat. I sat there the whole time and could not concentrate. I just stared at the board. My mind couldn't focus on the instruction given. Before I knew it, the block was over and we could have our free hour. That's where we could do whatever we wanted for an hour. I grabbed Axel and we sat down on a bench in the courtyard and stared at the clouds. That was our thing to do. We would stare at the clouds and make each other laugh with what we thought it was shaped like.
"Hey, that one looks like a ninja eating a potato.", she said.
"That one looks like a unicorn giraffe"
"That one looks like a floating dick.", she said.
"That one looks like a pair of earbuds that a zebra is wearing. It's listening to "Let it go".", I said.
We went back inside and went to English. It was boring as hell. But it would get me closer to see Mitch. That's the only good thing.
