Elsewhere, while that was all going on~

Stubby had eventually recovered from his injuries and decided to head back out on his own to find his way back to Conroy and the twins. The little dog left the hospital without anyone knowing.

The twins meanwhile watched over Conroy for weeks, but also went out to fight the Boche when they needed to. Things just didn't feel right as the twins frowned, knowing their two friends were down and feared things were only going to get worse.

It was a struggle for Stubby being out on his own. Along the way, he came across some German soldiers who were camped out along the battle field. Stubby also noticed something else... they had hot dogs!

As the little dog sneaked in closer to steal a hot dog, something caught his eye as he looked up to see one of the soldiers was holding something shiny in his hand.

The little dog squinted his eyes, getting a closer look and soon gasped in realization that this was the magic crystal. Stubby knew that the twins needed that crystal in order to get back home.

With clever thinking and his quick moves, Stubby jumped out and snatched the crystal from the German soldier in his mouth. He also managed stealing their hot dogs too. The Germans fired their guns at the little dog, but luckily Stubby got away.

It was a real rough time for both Conroy and Stubby. It's like the twins could feel their pain. They also felt something strange, Stubby's presences. But that's impossible, cause they thought he was far away back on the base.

That evening, Olsen was outside the tent eating dinner, plus keeping watch until he heard some rustling in the bushes.

He got out his gun, ready to fire at any potential enemy that was behind those bushes. But instead, he found something else...

The twins were inside the tent, still watching over Conroy who was trying to rest but it was difficult for him. The twins frowned, hanging their heads down, thinking there was no way for them to get home and they'd be stuck in the 20th century forever.

But the twins and Conroy also thought they were never going to see their special little friend again.

The three of them were in silence inside the tent, until they started hearing familiar barks and growls.

The twins eyes widened as they looked up, then slowly turned around to see none other than... Stubby!

"STUBBY!" The twins exclaimed, wrapping their arms around the little dog.

"Oh, Stubby! We're so glad you're okay!" The twins hugged the little dog, fearing that they had lost him.

"How did you even get here?" Brock was impressed at how Stubby made it all the way here past the Germans.

Stubby then showed the twins something he had dangling out of his mouth. "Here..." he muffled.

The twins gasped as they looked to see what it was.

"You found the crystal!" Ann gasped with joy, taking it from Stubby and putting it back on around her neck. "Oh, thank you, Stubby! Thank you!" Ann squeezed the little dog so hard his bones almost popped, while Brock patted Stubby on the head smiling in approval.

"Okay, okay..." Stubby smiled up at the twins, before then looking over to Conroy and slowly came up to him.

Conroy weakly started to open up his eyes when he felt something furry under his hand.

"Conroy..." Stubby barked softly, wagging his tail.

Conroy only managed a small weak smile to his dog, being very happy to see him. The twins smiled at the two, being so happy for them that they were reunited and Conroy was finally starting to heal.

And good news! After six months of hard fighting, the twins, Conroy and Stubby went on a furlough to Paris. They all remembered thinking, maybe this dreadful war was finally coming to an end.

"Never imagined my first trip to Paris would be in a cattle wagon" Olsen said, as the gang was climbing aboard a boxcar. "So glamorous!"

The twins chuckled at the redhead while Stubby was sniffing around the boxcar. They then heard the train whistle. It was now time to go, as Olsen was about to close the door when...

"Room for one more?" A familiar face appeared.

"Hey, buddy, you made it!" Olsen was happy to see that Schroeder was coming with them.

"Schroeder!" Conroy gasped in surprise.

"Stubby, look, he's back!" The twins smiled.

"Schroeder!" Stubby barked happily, coming up to his German friend.

"Stubby, you're here!" Schroeder beamed, petting the little dog. "What happened to you?"

"Um, hello? Why is it always about Stubby?" Olsen was annoyed. "I found him. 'Thank you, Olsen, for finding Stubby. Oh, that was great!'"

The twins giggled a little to that.

"Sorry, Olsen" Schroeder apologized, coming to give his friend a hug. "Come here!"

The gang later arrived in Paris, and were soon walking through the city having a look around. Stubby was very interested to be in some new place.

"This looks nice" Conroy said as they came up in front of a hotel.

"Yeah" Brock agreed.

"Glamours" Ann commented.

Just then, some French ladies walked by giggling specifically at Conroy and his buddies since they were soldiers. Olsen's mouth gaped open, then he nudged Schroeder before they went off to join those French girls for a walk while Conroy and the twins just shook their heads at them.

"What do you think, Stubby?" Conroy looked down at his dog.

"Oh, yeah!" Stubby barked, knowing what his owner was thinking.

Conroy, the twins and Stubby soon came into the hotel to enjoy some much needed relaxing time.

"Oh, yeah" Brock sighed, enjoying a nice relaxing hot bath. "This feels right..."

The others agreed as they all enjoyed a deserving break.

In the beginning, the French were very suspicious of Americans, but by the fall of 1918, they loved them.

Later~

"Come on, let's go see Paris!" Ann said, as she and the boys were going out to explore the city.

"Yeah, what are we waiting for?" Brock added, excited.

"Okay, then. Let's go!" Conroy said.

"Alright!" Stubby barked.

The four friends soon went around the entire city, exploring and taking souvenir photos in front of every famous land mark they came across.
