Sunlight fell onto your closed eyes, slowly stirring you awake. Flashes of the night before played in your mind. Jacob... and Bella, Running till you couldn't run any more, the sharp agonizing pain, the voices of the pack. Your mind then went back to Jacob and Bella, twisting it. An image of them kissing... Jake telling you he wanted you to stay far away from him, then pain so strong you felt like it might kill you.
You let out a gasp, almost leaping out of the bed as the nightmare awoke you. You put a hand on your chest, feeling your heart race as you breathed heavily. You then quickly looked around to see where you were... Your room. But how? The last thing you remembered was being in the forest... as a wolf.
Almost as if summoned, your mother came into your room. You jumped like a little frighten rabbit. You shot a glare in her direction, not saying a word, hand still clutched to your chest. She leaned against your doorframe, crossing her arms and giving you a stern look. "Explain to me why Sam showed up last night with you passed out in his arms, saying he found you in the woods at the Canadian Border?" You grumbled and look away from her. Really? She didn't even sound like she was worried at all, not about you anyway... not as her daughter. Also the Canadian Border? Had you really gone that far?
"It doesn't matter" you say harshly to her. "Yes it does!" Your mother shouted in response, pushing herself off the doorframe "You could have exposed us! As well as endangering yourself and the entire pack with your stupidity!" you growl and whip around to face her "you mean endangered the white wolf?" You respond in a low voice, hinting at the fact that it was only the white wolf that she really cared about. She didn't even reply to that, confirming your thoughts. You shake your head and roll your eyes before looking away again. "YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY-" She started back up, yelling now, but you quickly cut her off and stood up from your bed "I have a LIFE!" You snarled "I am just as much human as I am wolf! I don't care about the rules or the laws anymore... you will not stop me from living... you will NOT take the human part away from me!" Something in you had snapped. The accumulation of what happened last night and now this, must have set something off inside of you. It was quiet for a moment and you started walking towards your window to look out of it, almost praying for someone to come save you.
"This is because of Jacob... isn't it?" You mother said, breaking the silence again... speaking his name as if it was poison. The already lit fire growing inside you. You swung around and approached her quickly "Don't you dare bring him into this. This is not his fault" Not fully anyway "This is because of YOU and this curse!" You hissed at her, almost in her face now "you want to blame him because of your own mistakes you made when you were the wolf! You blame him... but you know my attachment to him is because of the curse..." Your mother looked at you with shock, fear and rage in her eyes. How dare you speak to her like that? She tried to act like she didn't know what you were talking about. You see... there was a little something about you family history that you never really took in when it was told to you because you thought all of it was silly, but now... You realized why you had imprinted Jacob... why you were even destined to become such close friends with him in the first place. It was connected to the whole reason The White wolf even existed.
The White Wolf came to be when a white woman fell in love with the chief of the Quileute tribe... From him, she learned how to enter the spirit world... as he had done before. Her love for him and for what he was is what got her stuck in the spirit world... and then after she became like him, it's what got her killed. Since then every first born female descendant has taken up the responsibility of the White Wolf and ever since then, every female who gets it... is cursed to fall in love with a descendant of Taha Aki. That's why there was a rule in place that kept you from having emotional attachments to the pack... So the future wolves wouldn't fall to that same fate as their ancestor. A rule your mother kept because of a mistake she also made when she was the white wolf. It was a stupid rule, it was impossible for one to watch the pack so closely and to have the job to protect them without gaining any emotional attachments to them... plus... it doesn't stop imprints from happening...
"You knew... You knew all along that this would happen..." it was all coming together now. You scoffed in disbelief at your mother. "I knew it was a possibility..." she admitted "but it doesn't matter anymore, you forbidden to be near him from now on. You are now only allowed to see him from afar... when you are doing you duties as The White Wolf" She ordered you. Snap. The last thing keeping you together and sane in that moment was gone. You were boiling over now and merely inches from shifting into your wolf form. "Over my dead body" You snarl, staring her dead in the eyes "Excuse me! I am your Alpha-" you almost laugh at this "You may be my mother, but you ARE NOT my alpha... The White Wolf has no Alpha and since that is all you see me as... you don't control me anymore... I will do as I wish and go on with my duties the way I see fit and if that gets me killed, then so be it..." You still didn't dare mention the fact that you had imprinted on Jacob and to be honest you really didn't even want to think about it.
Your mother tried to speak again, but your tolerance and patience for her was gone. You shifted and in a matter of seconds she fell back onto her ass and started shuffling away from you and out of your room. She would have challenged you, but once the first born female reaches a certain age, the previous one loses all their powers. So, she was nothing more than a human... no match for an overgrown Wolf.
Once she left and you had calmed down to where you could shift back, you closed your door, locking it behind you. With a sigh you climbed back into you bed, curling up into a ball and pulling your bedsheets over your head, silently sulking. There were so many emotions flowing through your body that at this point you just felt... numb. You wanted to cry... but tears refused to flow. So you just stayed there... for hours, just staring at the the darkness your covers had created around you. Had you overreacted? Were you in the wrong? Maybe you should have just stayed quiet... just nod and agree, right? You wished you didn't remember the stories you were told. I mean now you had your reason why... but not fully. You couldn't accept that the things that you felt for him were just because of this curse... and knowing didn't stop the pain that you felt... it didn't change the hurt you still had from last night. You continued to stay there in your thoughts and numbness, until you eventually fell back asleep.
