Chapter Two

Secrets out

Haley stares at my wrist and gasps as she drops my arm. "Ladies?" Mr. Wallis questions. "Is everything alright?" "Umm yeah I guess but... never mind." Haley stammers. "Lets get to our next class before were late." I sudgest nervously. I take Haley by the arm and drag her to the bathroom.

"You can't tell anyone about what you think you saw!" I get out. "I know what I saw!" Haley yelps. "How is that possible?" She ask shocked. "I don't know I was born without one okay just don't tell anyone!" I reply. "Can I see it again?" She ask. Gingerly I lift my sleave showing my deformity. "I cant believe you never told me, who else knows?" She ask. "Just you and my family." I tell her. " Your secrets safe with me." Haley says while hugging me.

The bell rings to tell us were late for class, we run out of the bathroom into science class and everyone stares. Ugh were probably going to get detention. "Sorry were late, there was bad traffic?" I try. "Sit down and don't be late again or that's detention." Mrs. Carson scolds. We rush to our seats and get out our books and homework out and continue class as normal.

The rest of the day goes on and Haley doesn't say anything about me not having the mark. I still cant believe she found out. I just have to trust her. None of this would ever have happened if I just ignored Jackson! Its not like he will ever love a defect like me. I am useless and will never love or be loved. I know I will spent the rest of my life alone. But I have always known this its just now I wish it wasn't true.

As I'm finally walking home from school I meet up with Miranda and she has a look of fear on her face. "Hey are you okay?" I ask. "Yeah I'm just a little confused I guess." She replies in an odd tone of voice. "May I ask why?" I question. "Haven't you heard?!" She exclaims. "Apparently not." I awnser. "Well Scarlet was in the bathroom when she heard two girls walk in and they were talking about one of them not having a mark!" My heart drops and my head spins and everything stands still. What just happened.

I try and act calm but the next thing I know I'm running. I don't know where I'm going but I'm going somewhere. Force and pain is inflicted upon my side. I turn my head for a second and blurry shapes make a car.My face feels hot and my eyes are swelling up with tears. I find myself in an ally way and I fall to the floor and break down. People know. They know that there is a freak in their school and sooner or later they will know it is me.

Frantically I start destroying anything my hands find. I smash my hands into some glass on accident and wipe away the tears with my bloddy cut up hands. I try to calm down and I collapse in a pile on the ground sobbing. I hear footsteps and look up to see Miranda.

"Oh my god Katie!?! Are you okay...your covered with blood!" She gasp. She holds me in a hug and tells me everything is going to be okay but she dosent know that it wont be okay. I'm a freak! People are actually scared of me just because a small mark on my skin is absent. The world spins and I just shut my eyes and everything fades away.
