I wrote this chapter in 3rd person and every other one in first person but I'm NOT changing it out of sheer stubbornness
"Okay, what's the stupidest thing you've ever done?" Fuu asked. "..I got my arm stuck in a sewer grate once because I dropped a pen.." Red looked away, clearly embarrassed
"Oh yeah! I remember that! It took hours to get you out!"
"O-oh, shush. I didn't know any better!"
Fuu, laughed softly. "I know, I know.." She turned to look at Vian behind her blue blindfold.
"Uh.." he looked away, not really replying.
"Heh, lemme guess, you don't know which one to pick?" Red asked.
"Red, be nice.....""Okay, okay, sorry.." Red rolled her eyes but did seem sincere.
"It's fine.."
"Okay okay. New question. What's Inkopolis like? It's... been a while." For a minute, Fuu allowed herself to get lost in her memories. Of Turf War, Splatfests, all the things she had never gotten to do..
She firmly pushed those thoughts away
the past is the past.. none of that changed where I ended up, did it? She shrugged and turned her attention back to the purple-haired squid, who was talking happily about Inkopolis Square, which was apparently a relatively new city built not too far from the Plaza where she and Red had lived. "...and there's these pop stars named Pearl and... Marina... who sing at the Splatfests.." Fuu and Red listened happily for a while, interjecting with questions, and it eventually devolved into light bickering about Splatfests. Then Vian went totally silent. He got a faraway look in his eyes, as if he was seeing something that wasn't there.
"Vian?" Fuu called quietly. He didn't respond or acknowledge her at all. Red tapped him on the shoulder. It was like he didn't feel it.
"Vian.. please say something." Fuu still spoke quietly.
A few minutes passed, the two girls waiting with increasing concern for him to say or do something.
Then he snapped back to this reality, now wide eyed and shaking.
