Chapter 5

Connor POV 💛

    My head is killing me.

Waking up was anything but pleasant, to top it all off I it's only a Tuesday and I probably have to deal with my parents since Tyler has probably told them about our little altercation last night. I checked my phone for the time 6:30 am great, another day, I still have to get the work I missed from my periods after lunch. I reluctantly got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom. Glancing briefly at myself in the mirror I notice my bandages wrapping around my wrists with dried blood faintly seeping through them and the events of last night came rushing back.

I had cut.

Last night was by far the worst times I've ever cut, I had cut deeper, and longer so it'll probably take longer to heal. Taking my bandages off I check to see the severity of my cuts, ehh there not the worst, certainly not the best but I can risk not wearing any bandages to school, It attracts more attention when there are bandages around my wrists so I try and go without them if possible. After brushing my teeth and taking a quick shower, I pick out my clothes for the day and made my way downstairs. The first thing I see is mom cupping Tyler's jaw checking his bruise in the kitchen, which has turned a nasty shade of black and blue. They both turn around to look at me.

"Connor! Why in the world did you hit your brother!" my mother shouted at me. "He pissed me off" I muttered quietly, I can't deal with mom and Tyler in the morning I still don't understand how they're so energetic. "CONNOR! ANSWER YOUR MOTHER PROPERLY!" My dads voiced boomed across the house, I freeze and look behind Tyler and mom to see my dad standing behind them with his arms crossed over his chest. Dad rarely raises his voice and the only time he does is with people that pissed him off, and damn if he didn't look absolutely terrifying at this very moment. I looked down and clasped my hands together, unshed tears beginning to pool in my eyes because everyone seems to be mad at me. "T-Tyler, s-said some s-stuff t-that h-hurt my f-feelings, p-please d-don't be mad a-at h-him, it w-was my f-fault f-for g-getting angry" I managed to stutter out as I wiped my eyes, the tears were pouring out by this point and I didn't want any of them to see, but I couldn't do anything about it. My parents are probably so pissed off with me for hitting Tyler and not being able to handle a simple joke, I didn't want to look up and see the anger in there eyes. I still had my hands clasped together, as I turn around, I get engulfed in a hug. I turn around to see who's hugging me.

It's Tyler.

I'm in shock, why is Tyler hugging me? Wasn't it my fault for hitting him? He hugs me for a few seconds silently, when he finally lets go he grips my shoulders with both his hands, lowers to my height and looks at me, his eyes were glossy with unshed tears. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of it. I feel like such a fucking asshole for hurting your feelings, I never meant to hurt you Connor" he hugs me again tighter, by this point he was crying silently, I could feel him shaking. "I didn't mean to hurt my baby brother" he croaked out, his voice a whisper.

I'm still in shock, but I finally manage to say something after a few seconds "B-but I hit you? W-why aren't y-you m-mad a-at me?" Tyler let's go of me and looks at me like I'm crazy, "Connor I fucking deserve that punch, I didn't know my teasing bothered you, I should of payed more attention, but it's not and excuse for what I've said" he chokes out. He hugs me one final time but I hear him say something "I need to make it up to him" it came out as a whisper, probably only for him to hear. I looked over Tylers shoulder and saw my parents, my father comforting my teary eyed mother. "Oh my god Sam look! We raised our kids right!" My mother said proudly as she wipes her tears. My dad just smiles softly and nods in response. Pretty soon Tyler lets me go and heads upstairs to get ready for school.
