SHORT CHAPTER but I'm building up to the drama! Don't worry! Next chapter's got a whole lot of drama! Kind of!

When Sherlock and I reached home after a particularly awkward taxi ride, he got out and went to the flat first. I met Mrs. Hudson in the hall by the front door, looking startled. "Oh, dear. Sherlock just barged in here rather loudly, then went upstairs. What is it?" She looked at me sideways, the sides of her mouth twisting up into a little smile. "Lovers' quarrel?"

I squinted at her, looked away, and back. "Mrs. Hudson, no. We're not- he's not my-" I sighed, then headed upstairs. Looking back, I saw her wink at me, mouth Good luck and go back to her room.

Reaching our room, I heard Sherlock playing violin. The music changed rapidly from nice, gentle chords to angry or sad lines. I knew he wasn't having a good day, so I went to my room, closed the door, and sat on the bed. A moment later, my phone buzzed.

Mycroft:

Lestrade contacted me. What's going on with Sherlock?

I looked at the door, wondering what was going on.

Me:

Not sure. I'll figure it out, don't worry.

I ate alone that night. Sherlock stayed in his room and didn't respond when I knocked. I left him some food in the fridge, but I wasn't sure whether he'd see it. I went to bed that night with a lot on my mind, and didn't get to sleep for a long time after laying my head down.
