Ingrid and the others exchanged confused looks. They weren't sure what Hiccup meant, but something happened back in Horas' lair. Something terrible. By now, the riders were far away from Horas' lair, riding in silence.
They were relieved to have escaped Horas' lair alive, but the aftermath of it all left them shaken up.
This wasn't the last time they'll face Horas; he'll be back and they all need to be prepared. As they passed a clifftop, Ingrid finally spoke.
"What do you mean?" she frowned at Hiccup, confused. "Hiccup, what happened back there?"Hiccup exhaled deeply.
"Horas is coming after Edon. And he is bringing his whole army. I'm not sure when he will attack, but knowing how powerful he is," he glanced down at his dragon fearfully, "the dragons aren't safe. Neither are we. Not unless we prepare ourselves.""So, what does he plan to do?" Ingrid asked.
Hiccup fell silent. He thought about his encounter with Horas back in his lair. What he said made the teen's skin crawl. Yet, his blood boiled with anger.
"He keeps lots of dragons - bruised, battered dragons," he shuddered as images of dragons in cages flashed in his mind, "in cages. It's...disgusting how he thinks he can abuse them like they're his slaves. He forces them to follow him, and if they don't, they don't live. I...I've seen some pretty grotesque stuff."
Ingrid and Run a gasped while Gunner scowled angrily.
"That is outrageous!" Gunner exclaimed, "How dare he? I will not stand for this. If he get his hands on Fangs, I'm gonna-"
"So what does it mean for our dragons?" Runa asked, stroking Echo's scales.
Fear pierced through Hiccup's forest-green eyes. His memory of Horas' plan was quite vague, thanks to being malnourished for days. But he could still remember some things. Hiccup grimaced as a headache struck him. He heard his stomach rumbled like a groaning earthquake, and his body felt so fatigued from being physically abused by Horas and his henchmen.
Suddenly he felt so weak and draibed that he almost fell off Toothless.
Luckily, he managed to keep his balance."Son!" Valka steered Cloudjumper over to him. A worried look expressed on her face. "Are you alright?"
Hiccup nodded slowly. Though, the pained look on his face showed otherwise. He really wasn't in his best condition.
"I'm fine. I..." he slapped a hand over his aching head, "Gods, I...I think I need to lie down. How much farther to Edon?"Pulling out her hand drawn map, Ingrid furrowed her brows, thoughtfully.
"I'm not sure." She squinted at the blinding sun. "We're far from Edon, that's for sure."The ocean stretched on for miles with no sign of uninhabited islands or any kind of civilisation anywhere.
Only sea cliffs and rock structures jutting from the ocean were seen across the endless dark, cold ocean."We can stop by the sanctuary for a while," Valka suggested. "It gives Hiccup time to rest. Besides, after everything that happened in Horas' lair, it's better if we don't pester Hiccup with it. Just until he recovers."
The others nodded. Without a second thought, the dragon riders followed after Valka and Cloudjumper towards the western waters.
As they flew over the vast ocean, grey clouds had formed, and the rumbling of thunder echoed in the distance. A storm was fast approaching, and the dragon riders hoped they will reached the sanctuary before the storm hits.
