Part 9

Two years ago

The dorm was empty. Kyuhyun was having his free time alone while lying down on the sofa bitting his favorite chocolate ice cream when his phone suddenly rings. He didn't care to look who the caller was and answered the phone call. He thought it would either be the manager or Sungmin since both often called him at random times.

Surprisingly, behind the call was the owner of the entertainment who told him to visit the office because there was something the man wanted to talk about. It was too sudden. It wasn't like he never spoken to the man before. He did, with other members too. However it's strange to hear the man summons him. Did the others somehow knew about this? Without doubt Kyuhyun jump from the sofa and hurried towards the entertainment building and went straight to the office.

He was in hurry that he forgot to change into formal clothing. He only had his black jeans and brown sweatshirt despite the warm weather. "Good afternoon." Kyuhyun greeted Mr. Lee with an awkward smile which the man replied back with a proper one. To his surprise again, not only Mr. Lee was the one who greeted him but Mr. Cho, his father was there too.

"Father? What are you doing here?" Kyuhyun said mentally as he tried to hide his frown. He may be near with his mother, but he's not so near with his father. It's rare to be seating with the man face to face, only to share a blank look.

"How are you doing, son?" His father spoke.

"I'm doing fine, father."

"Good to hear that. You're always busy, it'd be nice if you pay home a visit sometimes." Kyuhyun raised an eyebrow. That's supposed to be his line? He visits home five times a month but barely seen the glimpse of his father's figure. "I've been watching your activities. Your hard work seemed to paid off."

"I always enjoy singing with the members." Kyuhyun smiles sincerely. Hearing that from his father lifted a weight off the shoulders, even though the sweet words may a little bit sound fake or forced. "They're like my family. I treasure them lots. I'm glad I've chosen this path. I don't know what will become of me if I didn't take that chance Mr. Lee offered me."

Mr. Cho only forced a smile, "Let's get straight to the point. Shall we, Mr. Lee?"

"That's right." Mr. Lee cross his hands on the arm rest, "Please go on as you'd like, Mr. Cho."

"Kyuhyun. As a father who once obligated you from taking this path, I'm thankful that I gave you that chance to try pursuing your dream. I didn't expect you to go this far and achieved it easily. I could say that I'm very proud of you. You're making everything easier, that's what I like most." Mr. Cho smiles at his confused son.

"Thanks for the compliment, father." Kyuhyun tried smiling again.

"You deserve one, son and for that I have good news for you."

"Good...?"

"Why are you looking so naive?" Mr. Cho spread his arms and looking around the office, "This! Everything here is ours!"

Instead of smiling, Kyuhyun revealed his frown.

"You father bought this company four years ago. So to properly say, this company has been your family's since four years ago. I don't need to explain how we sealed the deals because that's not really important for this day." Mr. Lee smiled. Did he heard that right? SM Entertainment is his family's since four years ago? It was surprising to know but it doesn't really matter for him. As long as his activities won't be bugged, he had no problem with it.

"My son, you have to prepare yourself because you will be pointed as this entertainment's CEO."

What?

CEO? He's not even interested with business. Kyuhyun opened his mouth but he somehow couldn't speak his complain. The surprise made them stuck in his throat. He wanted to protest when his father cuts again, "You already achieved your dream as a singer and that was enough. You will reach the dead end with that status and it won't get you anywhere higher."

"I'm staying."

"No. You will do as I say, son." Mr. Cho said. "It's for your own good."

"I like my current status as a singer. I'm staying with Super Junior."

"You are quitting the group."

Kyuhyun sighs, "It's still a long way to go until my contract ends. After that I'm going to renew them and stay, whatever it is."

"Or do you prefer me appointing their disbandment?" Mr. Cho stated and Kyuhyun still trying to look calm despite the fear that's growing. "It'll be a short process. We can do it today."

"No. Please don't involve the members in this. Super Junior has nothing to do with your decision."

"My decision towards you will involve them because you are part of them." Mr. Cho states, "Now choose. Either you quit and be the CEO then Super Junior will stay as it is or, you stay with them and the group will disband."

"..." Hearing the threat made Kyuhyun gripped the handrest until his knuckles went white.

"I will give you three days. Think about it. If you really care of others you'd choose to quit your position."

With an abrupt stand, Kyuhyun gave his father cold stare to mask the fear within and left the room without a word and head back to dorm. Heechul, Leeteuk and Eunhyuk were back from their schedules and gave their maknae a short greetings but Kyuhyun just walk passed them and walked to his room. His absent mind made it looking as if he ignored them.

During the dinner everyone treats him well. Not only for the night but every night and everyday, they always treat him well. There's no doubt, everyone thought of him as their real younger brother. That night he couldn't sleep at all. Pacing back and forth, thinking about what he should do to prevent his father's plan from happening. Kyuhyun tries distracting himself by reading books, listening to music or playing his laptop. Unfortunately they didn't worked well. It made him pissed at himself since his mind was on the dead end.

Kyuhyun barely did well presenting how he felt towards the members, towards Super Junior. But he treasures them a lot. He loves everyone.

He won't be where he was now without them.

Three days had passed. A decision was finally made before he decided to return to the office to meet his father and Mr. Lee.

"Let me hear them."

"I will quit my position. I'm doing this for Super Junior, not for the sake of this company and especially not for you father." Kyuhyun bit the inner corner of his lips to surpress his anger. "My contract will end in two years. I want to end it first before I get that CEO position."

"Alright." Mr. Cho smiled in satisfacfory. "Very well, son. You made it. I will give you the chance to spend the remaining two years with them and I promise I won't touch or involve the group in this."

"Please keep your words, father. I won't stand still if you use them on me." Kyuhyun lowered his voice,

"They're not a toy you can easily tamper around."
